odds of getting rescinded from ucsd?

Hello,
I was accepted as a transfer to UCSD for fall 07. I am worried right now because I accidentally put NC instead of an 'F' for one of my grades. In addition, I didn't do well the last quarter and received 2 D's and a NC.

The UCSD contract states that I must maintain a 2.0 gpa and not have any misleading information on my transcript. My question is if I do well this quarter, do you think it's likely for me to get my application rescinded?

This is a little embarrassing for me to post, but I think I came to the right place - so please don't flame me :(

yea it might happen

accidentally?

Honestly, there's a good chance you'll get rescinded

If all that happened was that you accidently put the NC instead of the F, I wouldn't worry about it that much... as long as u retook the class. However ontop of doing that, you have one MORE NC and 2 D's to report to them... I would put my money on you getting rescinded.

so if I post a 4.0 gpa this quarter that wouldn't help? i also heard rescinding doesn't happen much, especially for transfers

"i also heard rescinding doesn't happen much, especially for transfers"

Better think again.

i've been curious about these cases too. Someone I applied to UCLA with got in, but had to drop a class because of schedule conflicts. He was like 5 units short, the class was spanish, of 60 and has to be reviewed. Anyone want to try their luck weighing on in that?

And from what I've heard, chances don't sound good for you UCSD. The UC's take more kids than they need knowing issues will arise, and with that many it just doesn't look good.

sorry, not trying to sound like a smartass, just saying something i heard. But will it help if I do really well this quarter?

My reason for doing so poorly for winter 07 is sort of half-assed but I think it is a good idea to post it here before explaining to counselors: I applied as a winter transfer to UC Irvine and found and that I was rejected. As a student at UCR, I felt I really had no motivation to do well - the students weren't as competitive compared to the higher UCs, the smog was suffocating, and the general atmosphere just didn't belong to me. It just didn't feel like a real university. After getting rejected, I had lost all hope and just felt like giving up. I felt that UCR was not the place for me to end my college career.

I visited UCSD for about a week, and I was instantly motivated to do well again: the university was bustling with activity, everyone just felt more alive than they did at UCR. The actual campus and the environment felt like a real university - unlike Riverside. The campus was enormous and the city was gorgeous. I saw my friends constantly studying, and I felt like there was competition. I just felt alive to be at one of California's top schools.

Now that I've been accepted on a provisional basis, I feel that I now have a reason to do well again. Call it a stupid excuse, but I never felt that I was going to go anywhere coming out of UCR. Now, with UCSD, I feel like I now have the drive to study and actually go somewhere with my degree.

Anyway, as half-assed as my excuse is, it is my real reason for doing so poorly. And to add to all this information: I was one of the 3% of the students that got in that had below 2.5 - this includes 3 Ws, 3 Fs, 3 Ds, 2 NCs. My English gpa was 3.8 and I was admitted as a Literature major.

Some people on here are full of BS, and they like to exaggerate things and wish the worst upon others.

I srsly doubt you will be rescinded if you do okay this quarter, the NC/F thing is a little troublesome, but I think if you can convince them it was an honest error, you should be okay.

oh, I just saw the part about you getting 2 D's and another NC that they dont know about... yeah, you are screwed.

have you called them?

im having similar problems with UCLA right now, and i called them right away so we're now trying to work things out.

bobbak: what did you tell them?

If I maintain the 2.0 provisional gpa, shouldn't I be okay still? that is the most important question I think.

I might be getting a D in an elective class this semester, so I called them and said if that happens will my offer be revoked. They told me that hypothetically I should be fine since its not a major prereq and doesnt affect my IGETC cert. So they updated my provisional contract and now it says that I have to get a 3.2 in my remaining classes, except I think im going to get straight B's...which makes my gpa a 3.0. So I emailed them about that and now im waiting for a response...

Ah I see...well here are my provisions:

• Complete at least 60 semester or 90 quarter UC transferable units by the end of Spring term 2007 with
an overall grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.50.
• Remain in good academic standing in your last regular term with at least a 2.00 GPA.

If I were you, I would call them and ask what is most likely to happen. Rescinding Admission for transfer student, like you said, happens only in extremely limited case. Make sure not to tell your name before they ask you.

thank you, i will do just that

out of curiosity, what should i say if they ask for my name?

For those of you that are curious or are in the same situation, I called admissions and they stated I just need to do well this quarter and everything will be okay.
