# of Ethernet Ports Per Room

yeah just looked that up… 100 bucks for that thing

i think all apple computers and parts are a ripoff too

well i have a mac so might be a bit biased but i think the mac os is worth the money for me to get a macbook but things like their mouse, keyboard, router and headphones are all way overpriced

Let’s not get this started! lol. I too adore my 13" MacBook Pro and my iPod touch. Apple customers do pay a premium, but it gives them outstanding design and performance, as well as the assurance of compatibility and support.

lol i can understand justifications of macbook and ipods but not the keyboard, mouse, and router…

Their desktops are also vastly overpriced, almost the same price/performance as the laptops. You can get an HP machine that’s equivalent to the iMac for ~$600 less. That’s more than just a premium.

lol @ HP machines, they break down in a year

If HP machines are so bad, then just build your own… Doesn’t take much expertise and you end up saving a lot for a much better machine. I do understand the macbook and ipod hype, but then paying for an iMac and other apple peripherals…

i rarely see anyone with imac… well anyone with desktop in the dorms for that matter but its true you can build a pc for a much cheaper price but its hard to get mac os on that (take mac os over windows anyday) but i guess the best bet for mac is still the macbook, windows laptops at that performance would get around 800 anyway… while i got my macbook for 1000 and came with a free ipod touch

The funny thing is that if it did break right after the warranty expires, you could buy another one and the total price would still be less.

If I could install Mac OS X on non-Apple hardware without having to jump through hoops and have a system that works 100%, I would. There are people that buy Macs for the aesthetics or the coolness or the “hype” as you put it, but there are also people that buy it for the OS. OS X just feels so much quicker and leaner than Windows.

I agree with kick53rv3 that the hardware accessories are not worth it, as you can get much more capable stuff for less.

Steve Jobs is a crook. End of story.

easily build a custom computer and install snow leopard: [Install Snow Leopard on Your Hackintosh PC, No Hacking Required - Hackintosh - Lifehacker](<a href=“Install Snow Leopard on Your Hackintosh PC, No Hacking Required | Lifehacker”>Install Snow Leopard on Your Hackintosh PC, No Hacking Required | Lifehacker)

It’s not too hard for DIY desktops since you can pick and choose components known to work with OS X. Not so with laptops (or even pre-built desktops).

and laptops is way way way more useful in college than desktops :)
