I got 4 teachers to write reccomendations for me for Penn. The online app doesnt tell you how many recs to include. Should I send them all in or should i pick 3 or 2 out of them. If it helps i’m applying for the Management & Technology joint degree program and these are the people who wrote recs for me:
Math teacher - knows me for 2 yrs
Physics - 2 yrs
English - 2 yrs
Staff advisor for the school newspaper for which i am the Editor-in-Chief - 3 yrs, knows me very well and solid rec!

Penn only requires 2 recommendations, and from what i've read, they don't want to get too many more than that. It might be good to send one extra, but don't go overboard because chances are they won't read all the recommendations if you send too many. Pick the best 3 to make sure they read them.

Ohh...couple more thing
1. If one them is mediocre (I dont think that teacher writes very well) is there any point in including it?
2. Should the recs be 'well-rounded', i.e. one math/science, one english, one staff advisor/ supervisor...etc.

Since you're so science-oriented, I'd send the physics and math recs. As for the staff advisor for newspaper, unless he/she taught you in one subject, I wouldn't put that in... doesn't Penn require that it is a teacher in a major area of learning anyway? Having the English rec may tell them that you don't lack in the area but personally, I say stick with the science and math because of what you intend to major.

I say send them all. Good recs from different types of teachers/mentors shows you're well-rounded. The best that can happen is that someone reads all your recs and thinks you're an amazing kid. The worst that can happen is that he not read them all which is no big deal.

Just doooo eet you take a crack pot shot and no one can say WOO HOO you didn't cause you did and rupert hte christmas mouse will bring you candy ...
