Question Concering Teacher Recommendations

How many Teacher Recommendations are required? Is it fine if I only send in one?

you need a minimum of two.

you gotta have 2 teacher recs and a GC rec. those are manditory so you can't get by on just one. sorry.

wow tenebrousfire...we're on the same wavelength or something...

indeed ...

Is there a recommended number? Is it unheard of to send in, say, 4?

They probably won't want to read four. After 2 teacher recs and a GC rec they pretty much have a good idea as to what kind of person you are. Only send extra stuff if it adds something new.

the point is to get recommendations that show differing complementary aspects of your character.

that's why it's often recommended / required at some schools to have one science / math and one english / history teacher write your recommendations.

the perspective of a supervisor at work, or some other individual who knows you well, may offer a unique viewpoint that the teachers cannot - but you don't want to send repetitive recommendations that bore the readers.

I added a third, but only because I'm applying for Huntsman and I felt that I needed my Spanish teacher to submit one, in addition to the customary Math/History setup. My adviser recommended it.

i sent in an extra rec from the guy that gave me an internship

yea i think thats what most universities will be looking for. recommendations from teachers and executives alike.

6 recs, I hope that they will not be bored to death when reading them one by one :)

yeah heh. as long as they arent repetitive i suppose

They won't like 6 recs at all. You shouldn't have sent that many.

But they won't reject you for it. They just won't like how you didn't listen.

wow, 6 does seem like a little much

i think the GC is stupid because i know it's hard to get to know yours. Mine quit a month ago and the new one is pretty retarded and I'm screwed with that rec.

I have 3 outside recs that add things to the equation for me and I really think will help me get into the program I want.

Research post doc who took me in

Exec at top pharmaceutical

science summer program

english teach

I guess I have to have another teach

I guess I have to have this GC

So instead of 4, I'm looking at 6 which, like you guys said, is more of a detriment than a help.

EDIt: Is it possible to send a rec from the viceprincipal instead of a GC. He knows me well where my GC doesnt at all.,
