I'm a high school junior and I've already taken the SAT twice. I know I'm going to take it again in June, because I only scored an 1820 (660m, 610w, 550cr) in December. How many times have you guys taken the SAT I and is 4 times too many?

Most people say 4 times is too many, but i think that is just a misconception. Four times is fine as long as you have a good reason. What constitutes a good reason? I don't know.

I don't think there's a such thing as too many, for as far as I know, there isn't a rule that prohibits one from taking the SAT more than a certain number of times.

However, if one takes the test too many times (more than 5), colleges might look at you and say, what's wrong with this kid?

i heard that after taking it three times, they start averaging your scores or something instead of combining your highest from each section. just something you might want to check on.

Consider taking the ACT if you do not score well... (ACT - only one score counts.)

I heard that too, ihaterunning. That CB averages your scores after 3 takes.

I've taken the SAT twice and am considering taking it again to get a higher score in the math section. Is this wise? Also, does CB start averaging your scores on the 4th time you take it, or on the 3rd time?

Additionally, don't most colleges just take your top score in each section, regardless of how many times you've taken it?

CB doesn't calculate an average - - - that is a load of crap. Colleges will notice how many times you've taken it though.

This is so evil, CB just makes us come back more to take this grueling test. After my first time, I am definitely loath to sit through it again. >.<
