I just wanted to get an estimate of the "average" number of times people have taken their SAT's.

Also, is it true that after you retake the test twice, CollegeBoard will start to average out your scores? Thanks

3 and not true at all.

4.

The only reason I took it a 4th time was because my #1 college accepted January SAT scores. Taking the SAT was literally the only thing left that I could do at that point to increase my chances.

Once- but I practiced for months.

3 times in all. First no studying for a 1980. Second with 3 weeks of study for a 2240 (but only 680 CR), then third with more CR study for a 2210 (but 760 CR), for a superscore of 2330.

I’ve taken the SAT twice- in May and November.

And no, they do not average out your scores. It just looks terrible to take it more than 3 times. Take it in the fall and spring of junior year and then if you still absolutely have to, take it in October/November of your senior year.

Twice total. Once in October my sophomore year and then in December the same year.

3 times and it went up about 100 points each time

I retook once (so 2 tests total). Only went from 2050 to 2070.

Never heard about CB averaging scores. I highly doubt it’s true.

Did you find that your scores increased each time or did they stay pretty constant?

3 now and about to take the fourth tests.

None, most people I know do 2-3

I took it once, since my score came out pretty good, but I planned to take it twice.

3 total. I took the ACT 3 times too. I personally think anything more than that is a little excessive. :P
