my room sign-up date isnt until may 4th, and I dont want to be stuck in a really bad dorm like a non-ac triple or something...
im coming in as a freshman, so should I just look into off-campus housing? if its close-ish to UF will i still be able to make friends as easily as I would be able to in on of the dorms I would get at the later end of the sign-up process? I just want to make sure living off-campus wont ruin my freshman experience if I have to go that route. any advice is greatly appreciated.

UF is one of the few schools in the country that doesn’t require incoming freshmen to live in campus housing - and that being said - they sell out every year.
I lived on campus my first year, and it was the best decision I’ve ever made. It was easier to make friends and it was the only time in my life where I could be surrounded by others in the same part of life. It was hands down the most fun I’ve ever had! Yes, the buildings are older, but it was still hands down the best choice for me.

if you want to live off campus, check out [University of Florida Off Campus Life](http://www.offcampus.ufl.edu). They have some good resources.

But I would suggest to live on campus for at least your first year. It’s awesome. :)
