off campus housing?

i am a freshman now and i live in the dorms, but im trying to start to plan for next year

im thinking that i probably want to live off campus...but somewhere that is really close to campus (walking distance)
and preferably with my own room and bathroom

any suggestions?

sorry i cannot answer your question, but i am just curious, what were your stats? if you dont mind. I am really anxious to see if i was accepted or not. were you in-state?

thanks and goodluck!

It all depends upon your budget. There are MANY apartments that are walking distance to campus. Checkout craigslist and type in walk to UF in the search. Also check out Trimark properties (they have a lot of apartment complexes close to UF) and check out Jefferson and 2nd.

Or you can find someone who needs their lease taken, they're usually desperate and willing to pay for a few month's rent if someone takes their apartment. Like me! I've been trying since August to get someone to take my lease at www gainesvilleplace .com and haven't had any luck. So I decided to offer 2 month's rent or a 1000 dollars cash if someone takes my lease. The apartments are a few minutes from UF and in a great location. I'll offer 3 month's rent as soon as I get the money but i'm broke from medical bills and paying rent for an apartment I'm not living at anymore. (PS, if you sign a lease anywhere i'd suggest a half year just encase something happens and you can't finish out the full year, most places won't let you out of the lease no matter what. I found that out the hard way.) Email me if you're interested in it nicholasmccann97@yahoo.com

Even if you don't take my lease check out the apartments they're in a good location for a good price and a great atmosphere of college kids.

Agree with Nicholas about using caution when signing a lease! My daughter signed a lease on a beautiful 2 bedroom/2 bath apartment (1/2 block to campus) last April and two weeks later realized that she couldn't find a roommate to go in with her. She had thought it would be easy to find someone to rent the other room. She found at least 2 apartments in the same building that were also half empty and wanted to go in with them BUT SHE COULD NOT get out of her lease. End of story, after a temporary roommate (she moved out because she got a cat which is NOT allowed in the building) we are stuck paying for the entire apartment until the lease runs out July 30!!!!!!
USE CAUTION WHEN SIGNING A LEASE, THEY ARE BINDING!

There are websites for gainesville where you can post ads wanting roommates and find people looking for roommates.

I just went down the list emailing people and found a few to call who are looking for a place. Hope your daughter has luck finding someone soon for a roommate, apartments are too expensive! My parents hate me because they co-signed on the lease and If i can't pay they have too, so everyone out there please learn from others mistakes, it's easier then learning from your own!
