Does anyone know about off-campus housing behind Davenport looks like the corner of Tremont Street? Good area/bad area - looks very close to campus -

It visually looks a little creepy sometimes, and I personally don’t like going there after dark. But you can only get a feel for the place if you go there yourself. I know of people who live there and don’t mind it at all.

I think it’s reasonably safe over there, but I agree that it’s a little creepy at night. Columbus is always full of NU students but Tremont is quieter, even though it’s just down the block. I spent a good amount of time on columbus, and had a lot of friends who lived on that block, and I never had any problems or heard of anything happening… but it wouldn’t be my first choice of where to live.

But, I’ve been into a fair number of apartments in that area and most were pretty nice. Also agree with neuchimie that the best way to find out is to go over there and see how it feels.

Son is looking to live there. Will be a middler next fall and just figures it will be cheaper to live off campus and not have to worry about moving off for summer session etc., I looked at the location on a map and the back door of the apartment literally faces Coventry. Coventry and this apartment are on adjacent blocks. The next block to the right is the campus police - so I can’t imagine it would be unsafe. I thought it was behind Davenport but it isn’t that far down.
