Off-Campus Housing

I'm going to be a 4th year, looking for off campus housing. however, i'm not taking summer classes and so i won't be in san diego for the summer.

How do people in my situation deal with this? When do they look for leases that start in september? How much more am i looking to really pay if i do this?

I ask this because i highly doubt that most people pay 3 months of summer rent to "reserve" a spot if they aren't going to be in san diego for the summer.
.......or do they?

I know a lot of people get housing in June so their rent is cheaper, find a subletter for the summer, and then move in in September. That is certainly an option… but yes, apartments do tend to charge slightly more in September because they know students need housing.

also, if you leave/graduate next year by june, youre still stuck in a 12 month lease, so youll need to sublet this summer or next summer
