I remember reading about off campus housing horror stories last year. Our son is a freshman and living on campus but wants to move off next year. Anyone have a good experience. Looked at and loved Grand Marc just a bit pricey for our budget. Was hoping someone had another location that worked out well for them.

D1 moved off campus as a junior and lived with several other girls in nearby rented houses. It worked out, but as a parent I liked the security and reliability of the service of the FSU dorms. The houses she lived in were old and frequently were in need of repair, but they appeared to be investments for the landlords and thus minimally serviced. This annoyed me...

Apartments and homes for rent are advertised on craigslist and uloop and often students send email offers for subleases. It is hard to offer recommendations since experiences can vary. Try to choose a location on the free bus route to FSU in case parking or gas prices become an issue. Remember to take utilities into consideration when evaluating costs.

I have some questions about Grand MArc. I went to the website but was not able to get info to answer some of my questions ..Does anyone happen to know ---is it a regular apartment building set up, or do they have RA's as in SOuthgate? IS it actaullu built yet? Are they leasing yet ? Anyone know the price range?

i found this website with prices in case anyone else was wondering...

Our son is in a fraternity at Heritage Grove, and he would like to live at the house. Does Florida Prepaid Housing cover any portion of fraternity housing at Heritage Grove?

I suspect it does as the university provides telecommunications services to HG but I'd still call and verify coverage: Florida State University Housing - Contact Us

Yes Heritage Grove does take the Florida prepaid dorm contract as a large portion of the rent. You probably will end up paying about 4 out of the 12 months rent as well as utilities but if you refund the plan you get a lot less money back (only the original amount you paid not the current value)
