Assuming that our landlord doesn’t use a lease agreement form and we simply trust each other, could I simply provide a lease document template from the internet to be signed by the landlord as a submission?
Also if I’m off-campus, does it matter who my room mates are? What if my “room mates” are technically my parents while I am also paying for the rent with scholarships/refunds?
I also would like to know if it matters where I live for the off-campus document submission. Does the address have to be near the Rutgers - Newark campus as shown on the lease agreement if I have to show a lease agreement? Or it doesn’t matter where I live?
The school does not request proof of off-campus residence! Is this scholarship related? Did they ask you to send documents to prove you’re off-campus? I’m an off-campus student at RBS-NWK and I live in Edison.
@coconutman112 Every case is different so your best bet is to call the department who is asking you to submit proof of lease.
I’m an independent off-campus student and I did not have to provide any lease documentation. However, it may be that I’m also an adult (maybe they have different rules for younger people!?), and I connected my FAFSA application directly to my IRS account. They could have pulled all information they needed from there!
I know that if the information provided to FAFSA is not enough, then the financial aid department will request more documentation for verification. https://financialaid.rutgers.edu/apply/forms/.
Again, give them a call to make sure you get the correct answers.
