Off-Campus Student Food/Commuter Meal Plan

My D will be a junior this fall and living off campus. I'm trying to get a better understanding of the Commuter Meal Plan and why you would do it. I understand the convenience of having Wavebuck$ available while on campus, but it doesn't seem like a good deal. On the dining site it says $825 per year gets you $600 Wavebuck$ and $25 Nola Dollars. If its dollar for dollar, why would you do this plan?

Also, for budgeting purposes, anyone have an idea of what to budget per month for food from local foodstores, etc?

I think the commuter plan also includes discounted meals at Bruff, which I suppose if your child likes Bruff adds value.

Yeah you’re right but it’s only $2 off there. I just don’t really understand why you wouldn’t just put the $825 on Tulane debit. IMO that’s a lot of visits to Bruff to make that option worthwhile… Not sure how many juniors are clamoring to go to Bruff. Lol
