S admitted to UCSB but accepted offer of admission elsewhere, which he is now regretting. Some of that is normal buyers remorse. But....anyone know if there is any way to "reactivate" an admission or otherwise avoid needing to wait a year, or even two, to transfer in?

May 1st was deadline for fall freshmen and that’s it, only way now is to reapply next year or transfer in and hope to be offered a second admission.

welllll… I’ve heard that people can and have done a last minute switch but this year with the budget cuts I don’t think there will be any extra spaces at a popular campus like SB. You could call the chancellor of admissions offfice and see if they have any spots available. All schools have a target freshman enrollment number and maybe SB didn’t get as many admits as they hoped for. (I sort of doubt that though-UCSB is more popular than ever these days)
