For the specific informational discussions at the top of this forum (e.g., Acceptances by School), can we limit posts to the original purpose, por favor?

Send a private message if you want to say "congratulations". Start a new thread called "worst nightmare" if you want to share what keeps you up at night. I can relate to both of these off-topic subjects, but it is frustrating to think that maybe one of the 16 programs we have applied to is starting to send out decisions only to find out it was a false-alarm. Thank you all for your contributions to creating this very unique community and for your consideration of this post.

Everyone on these threads seems to go into a tizzy every time someone gets an acceptance or a rejection from a particular school but the reality is that this is going to happen somewhat randomly at almost every program from now until May. There are plenty of other social media sites where the word goes out almost immediately and this is happening. right now. It doesn’t necessarily mean anything in regards to your kid. In other words…there really are no alarm bells that apply to each individual student. Very few schools send out all notices at the same time and for those that do it’s no secret.

I think what txtxyeha is saying is that it would be nice if ONE of the threads, either the school acceptances or the member acceptances had JUST that – acceptances. So when we see that there is a new post we know that means just one thing: AN ACCEPTANCE!!

txtxyeha - I can relate to your frustration. I have felt the same sometimes. On the other hand, this is a bit like morning talk around the water cooler, sometimes tangents come up. I think all of us are “feeling the stress”, and it’s nice to “share” with the only other group on the planet that can relate to what we’re going through. Besides, it’s holiday weekend and even though some of the schools may be in session today, I doubt any of us are going to hear anything "noteworthy"until at least tomorrow - especially if it’s coming through snail mail. No tangents after midnight tonight. I promise.

I understand being on pins and needles with the waiting, but I went back to the beginning of each thread and neither give instructions to the poster to only post an acceptance. Perhaps you could start an acceptance only thread for those who want to avoid false alarms.

In previous years there was a natural tendency to keep those two threads in particular as well as the final decisions list, about the data for the most part. After some early chatter for the excitement surrounding the first acceptances, certainly by page 16 they pretty much became about updating the list with an occasional kudo, or request for instructions about how to make things red thrown in. I suspect that is really where txtxyra is coming from. The copying and pasting is already going to make this thread very long very quickly as things start to really take off in the next few weeks. So you may find the suggestion to be a good idea. There are already wonderful threads for the kudos etc. (Sharing, venting, etc. is one of them.)

I “like” the like button! And I agree, I would prefer to see the Acceptance threads kept to posts regarding actual acceptances and let’s use our Venting/Sharing and other miscellaneous threads for chatter (which is always very entertaining!). Just my two cents…not that it’s worth much.

Congratulations to all S’s and D’s that get in everywhere from now on. I’ll keep my nightmares to myself and good luck to all!
It would be nice for those looking for acceptance updates to know when the accepted MT kid auditioned but I suppose it really doesn’t matter (except to feed anxiety) because the kids getting “early” acceptances either applied to schools that aren’t waiting until all of their auditions are finished, they are super talented or they fit the programs they have been accepted to perfectly. The same way you really can’t read anything into your child’s’ audition experiences, there is no reading into acceptances.
BAL to all and happy waiting!

@Princesssjpmom – It’s not a page ABOUT the Unified auditions, although they post about Unifieds a lot! It’s a FB group that gets regenerated every year with a different name (started 4 years ago as The Collective, this year it’s The Unified) to help college-bound students during the audition/application process. Prior years’ members stay in it so they can pay it forward to the current year applicants, creating a very supportive community of musical theater/acting college students and alumni. Sort of like the CC/MT board, but mostly for students (although there are parents in the group as well).

I joined The Unified FB group but my FB arbitrarily decides I’m not interested in it and never shows me the posts even though I have my FB set to “most recent.” Hate that about FB. I need to just go read the Unified page sometimes.
Gmail, on the other hand, is always suggesting with their ads that I go back to school and become a theatre teacher, as a result of Google’s spying into my email. Wish FB would take some hints from gmail. Lol

MTMajorCook, I sent a message to you this morning about the FB page. If you didn’t get it, would you please let me know? My smart iphone isn’t being so smart (or maybe it’s me); I can’t tell if it sent. Thanks!
