"Offered Alt Prgm same Col"

Decision : Offered Alt Prgm same Col

What does that mean ??
Does it mean that I didn't get into the specific major I requested (bioengineering) ??

yes.. it probably means they suggested you do some other engineering program.. or that u got accepted to the college, but will have to notify them of a second major choice..

Bioengineering is the most selective major at UIUC because it's a new program and enrollment is limited to 25 per year (the 75th percentile SAT is a 1600!). Therefore, some of these applicants are denied from the major but accepted to the College of Engineering, so they have to select another Engineering major.

So would I have some flexible options when choosing my major instead of bioengineering ?? or are they going to be like "choose civil engineering or don't come !!" ?

Is it really? That's amazing. I know a handful of bioengineers and they are all very cool. I guess I just didn't realize how smart they were as they helped me with my physics homework every week last year. lol.

I think it should be pretty flexible. When they send you the acceptance letter, they'll give you a list of engineering majors to choose from. If I had to guess, since ECE, CS, and ME are the most selective majors after BioE, they'll probably let you choose either any major, or any major minus those.
