not yet - status change on the UMich portal

D’s portal changed first - and then the email followed.

THanks for info Kategrizz. Glad to see she has alot of other options. Good luck to her deciding.

Status change on portal in a.m. Email sent around 12:30.

No for my S too…Congratulations on the Yes and Waitlist!

A no here too. S got an email yesterday afternoon.

@kategrizz : They took a mitten kid.

@PondsK8r - they always take at least one - but I’ve never seen more than 2 in a freshman class - going back several years. I don’t know the accepted “mitten kid” - but D’s ballet teacher was fairly certain someone from her Alma Mater HS was accepted - but wasn’t clear if it was Acting or MT. (Acting seems to take more “mitten kids” than MT).

We know the mitten kid who got in this year for MT. He has the same singing teacher as my S.

What’s a mitten kid?

@myloves - someone from Michigan… UMich takes the vast majority of their class from out of state - making the odds for a “mitten kid” to get into UMich extra slim. (My D is a Mitten Kid - rejected from UMich - no surprise!)

@kategrizz - I know of at least 2 current UM MT freshmen who are “mitten kids”. I have not heard from the department that they limit it to only two. Come to think of it, I don’t know if there are more than two currently-admitted students from any other state (per class) either, but I wouldn’t think there is less of a chance for someone in-state to be accepted. If they take the vast majority of their class from out of state, it is probably because the vast majority of their applicants are from out of state. It’s just tough odds no matter where you live, especially for girls, with so many female applicants!
