I checked the appeal portal thing, and it said “only non-admitted students can view this page” So I logged into the myadmissions portal and regular acceptance page was there! And I just received the congrats email!

Could I do anything after I was rejected again through appeal. Is there a way I could appeal again? Anything would help

Ucdavis489 - if i got rejected twice i would personally go visit the admissions office to show you are determined

Rejected also. How do you appeal twice? It says the appeal deadline is gone.
I got my appeals for Irvine and Santa Barbara left. SIR’ed to Santa Cruz as my back up but I really hope my appeals come through!

For those who appealed and got denied, why do you think you got denied? And what is your gpa may I ask? what major? I have my backup plan as UC Irvine but I really want to go to Davis for communication major. I have a feeling that I might get denied as a transfer because I have a 2.9 and applying for an impacted major. ;[

@formomilan: I honestly think it was my low GPA and SAT scores. Especially since i was going for the Biological Sciences major. My gpa at the time of the regular UC application was a 3.4 though by the time i had appealed, i had risen my GPA to a 3.7 . My backup school was CSU Sacramento though i’m having 2nd thoughts and just might cancel my SIR to Sac, and go to community college for 2, get a tag agreement and get to Davis that way. Or just Go to Sac for 1 year, then go to a CC my 2nd year and do a tag.

@Alpha, you can always go to Sacramento City College and take classes at the Davis campus.

@JeSuis : You think so? I heard you can take classes at Davis at the Davis Summer Session, but yeah. I was actually thinking Woodland Community college for me though.

Just curious. All of those appealing. Are you in state students. My oldest did get accepted and go to Davis for two years. After changing majors, the cost was too exorbitant for out of state. But I do know they were adamant about not letting us get in state tuition, even thought we did own property in Ca and pay Ca taxes. They seem tough but if it is what you really want, be persistent

@newconmom: Yes, i am an in-state student, and ahh, i’m sorry to hear that, :o.

As for anybody who got denied to Davis, what are your current plans now? I’m deciding between actually going to CSU Sacramento or going to a Community College than transferring to Davis since the transfer rate from a CC to Davis is like 80% or somewhere around there.

Alpha47
how many words did you have in your appeal? I tried so many times to cut down words and I still have 400 words… x_x. i know it says it’s 350 word limit but when I paste mine in the box, it doesn’t tell me that it’s over the word limit or anything. or would it not let me submit it ?

i wonder if it’s okay to submit it with 400 words which is what i have right now… I originally had 800 words when I wrote it and now I cut many words down to 400… I just can’t shorten it anymore since I think everything on there is so important for them to know. -_-

@Formomilan

I had around 347 words i believe. And you can try, but i think it will cut it down to 350 words, kinda like if you’re over the limit when submitting your personal statement for the UC applications. But dang, sorry to hear that. :o Hmm, well the only thing i can tell you is that just see if its possible to substitute certain words out, and if you need to cut out information, make sure that anyone that is writing you a letter of recommendation to have them mention that important information.

Good luck in appealing!

@Alpha47

I see, thanks for responding!! And thank you! I guess I need to make it 350 words… Still have time to edit it before it’s due. But I do want to submit it sometimes next week. So I can finally get rid of this burden lol. and just wait…

@formomilan:

No problem! Good luck on the appeal again! and tell me about it haha. By the way, since you’re a transfer student, was community college a good route for you to go? Cause i having to choose between CSU Sacramento and or Community College though i still want to go to Davis, so i’m just wondering if Community College is worth it.

@Alpha47
Oh wow sorry i haven’t been able to get on here since !! And yes I will keep you posted if I hear from Davis…

Yes, I personally think that CC is worth it. PLUS there is always a TAG program which guarantees you for admission if you have at least 3.2 GPA and complete all the requirements. you will be automatically accepted if your TAG is approved. I was unable to apply tag because my GPA is below 3.2… it’s ashamed i know. However, UC gives way more priority to transfer students from CC. The acceptance rates are so high. All I know that transferring to a UC from a CSU is very rare and difficult since the systems are completely different… like the classes you’d be taking at CSU might not fit the requirement at UC’s and not transferable.

it also depends on your major as well. is your major impacted at UC Davis? A higher GPA I would say 3.0+ really can get you in Davis as a strong applicant. Honestly, i have a 2.9, I got accepted to UCI for economics (such a relieved I have a back up college to go to)and UCR for political science major & got rejected from UCSB, UCD.
Oh and when I called UCD why I was denied, she told me that I was denied base off of my Major GPA which is 2.9 and it is recommended that I have a 3.0.

My friend got into UC Davis with 3.1 for Computer science.
You should look at how many classes at CC you will need to take before transfer to Davis. For me I will be completing 60 units in two years before transferring. it’s around 15 units per semester? I also attended summer session.
It’s also not hard to get ahead, you could just take summer classes, but you really don’t have to. I completed most of the GEs that are needed to transfer in first year. And then most of my Major courses (prerequisites for my major) in the second year.
I think it has been doable… plus i’m not intelligent and I screwed up the first semester. I only took 10 units and earned a C in Statistics. Now i’m taking 18 units but the classes are pretty balanced that’s why.

I would encourage people to attend CC if they are still trying to go to a UC though.
Why not go to a CC if it is less expensive than at a CSU, and the first two years students are pretty much just taking the lower division couses that are all equivalent to the classes at Community College.

I’m a transfer, rejected for communications (didn’t qualify since its impacted and my gpa low and missing a speech class) so I appealed to be accepted on my second choice (Sociology) which since I took Social Problems is a better fit for me anyway I’m more passionate about it. Anyway, I think my gpa was 2.8 and this semester included classes that were repeats of old bad grades. Explained everything in the letter and four letters of recommendation went in on my behalf, instructor, coach, community member, etc and this semester my grades are all good except Spanish for heritage students I earned a C. The appeals committee emailed me saying they needed this term’s grades to make thier decision which I took as a good sign but it still doesn’t show anything… don’t know what to think!

any news from Davis yet?
