office jobs

i'm looking for summer jobs and i've applied to the normal batch of coffe shops / department stpres/ etc. but I was wondering how some of you guys have gone about getting office jobs as an assistant or clerk bookingkeeping and filling stuff.
The other positions one can usually go online and apply or when at the store ask for an application, but how have you guys found out about other types of jobs.

at some point i know one person mentioned temp agency and i'm looking into that.

monster.com is pretty good, i put my resume up online, and in two days i got called. got the job shuffling papers all summer.

It's all about connections.

My job this summer is at a relative's law office.

Ask your aunts, uncles, parents, friends' parents, and all their friends if they know of any openings.

I actually got a job in a doctor's office filing papers by sending out a letter to every doctor's office in my county, with a letter explaining that I was looking for some kind of a part-time job if they had one available. Surprisingly, this worked, although I think I just got lucky because I had sent it about a week after the previous file person had left. I gave the job to my friend when I left and she gave it to one of her friends, so you would probably have a better chance finding something through connections, but I don't suppose cold calling would hurt, either.

My sister works for the university community outreach program as a marketing coordinator (i know, whoa) where she goes to school, and it is purely office. If you are in college, maybe talk to your own school, see what jobs they have on campus?

craigslist, monstertrak, school career center.

Start with family connections - least amount of paperwork. monster/craigslist/career center are all good options.
