Try the Student Room , which is basically the British version of CC.

hiiii!

new york city, USA
oriental studies (arabic and modern middle eastern studies)
open app.. i just could not make a decision.

good luck :)

:-). I hope applying for Corpus won't decrease my chances - they only take 7-8 PPE students a year. But it seems like an amazing college, so we'll see!

Sent in your UCAS application yet?

yep. all sent in.

are you interviewing in the states? i hopefully will get an offer for an interview in nyc.

Yeah, that's the hope. I'd rather Vancouver; it's much closer to CA than is NYC! :)

Yes, Oxford!

Name: Ann, Chinese but currently studying in Melbourne, Australia
College: open application. I really didn't get time to do some thorough research
Major: Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry
Concern: I've heard the rumour about rejecting Chinese candidates for biochemistry major in Oxford but hopefully it's just rumour.

Good luck, you guys!!!
I remember this time of year - insanity! But trust me, you'll get through it and end up at amazing schools!
As for me, I'm flying over to Ox tomorrow for the first time. :)
And Ann, it's "subject", not "major", which you "read." - and I'll be "reading" yours!

YAY OXFORD
pembroke for chemistry!!

=P gonna do interview on ..22nd October..
so SCARY.

Where from? Karachi, Pakistan
What subject? Economics and Management
What college? Open Application
I really want to get in, although, the chances of me getting in are quite slim since nearly 1 outta 6 students in my school are applying to Oxford and most of them are applying for Econ and Managemt.
Btw goodluck everyone else and goodluck for your interview kakalittlestarz

A question - I wrote a TON for my Oxford personal statement; how do I write a general UCAS one without repeating myself too much? It's bad to use the same thing, right?

i got an interview in NYC!!!

oh dear.. it's all happening.

wizard: i did the opposite.. ym UCAS one was my big one with all the lights and whistles and rewrites and all that. my oxford one just mentioned my specific course and my research in islamic theology. about a short paragraph.

but, it's totally okay to make them similar.

are u only applying to oxford?

I'm actually applying to 5 UK schools...Oxford, LSE, St Andrews, Warwick, and Durham. :-).

And I've an interview for the 22nd of October as well, in Vancouver! With Dr. Anthony Murphy. I'm excited!

Have you checked his web page yet ?

Dr. Murphy's research area appears to be econometrics. Should you expect math-oriented questions then ?

Karachi, Pakistan.
Open App, Oxford.
Eco and Management.

Willem, from the Netherlands.
Going for open app.
Economics & Management. I sent everything yesterday
Succes to all of you!!

Just a word for you guys: Both Cambridge Econs and Oxford Econ&Man will be math-oriented, though I think Cam Econs is more math-focused. And that's what basically what you will be asked during the interview. Also there're 2 sections in the test, one of which will be Math as well. So learn your Math, guys. I was asked to solve a 1 page-long math problem in my interview (sth with 3 unknowns and lengthy data). Also the professor wrote some math questions on the board (just basic differentiation and integration math). So chill out, it's all about how well u handle the stress.

I'm feeling a bit nostalgic now. The whole process was really boring. It's an enjoyable experience anw. I just never regret having declined the offer. I hate the whole UK system altogether!!!

Good luck!

OMG. Thank god I've found a thread with some US Oxford applicants. I've been browsing the student room for advice but the majority of them are obviously from the UK.
I got an interview for Biological Sciences (open app) in NY on Oct. 24th.
I am DYING of nervousness, my goshh, srsly it truly doesn't seem posible to fully prepare for this. Argh. Anyone else from NY?
But anywho, good luck to those who are being interviewed on the 22nd.

Im applying from Italy (Bulgarian by citizenship)
Physics (4 years)
Mansfield

Good luck to all
