Official 2008 Oxford Thread!

Bands A-C are fine, imo. There's really no difference between the furniture in Band A rooms to the furniture in Band D rooms - just that Band Ds have an en suite bathroom. All the rooms have warbrdobes, desks, a couple of comfy chairs, coffee table etc.

I personally had a Band D room so didn't have a shared bathroom while I lived in college, but when I was living with friends we shared a bathroom and it wasn't that bad. At least in college there's a cleaner who cleans the bathroom for you everyday! Btw, the bathrooms are shared between around 5-6 people max, not a million, so it shouldn't be too bad!

Decisions in 2-3 weeks, guys! Eek. :).

I've just been accepted to St Andrews w/ an Unconditional offer...here's hoping Oxford will show me some love. ;).

Haha, speaking of disorganisation, I interviewed in Vancouver, and then a week ago, was sent a letter saying that I wasn't needed for interview. Sigh. After emailing the Corpus admissions tutor, I learned that it was 'cos the college didn't specifically need me for interview, but they had all of my materials regardless. Sigh.

Thanks for all your help laylah, much much MUCH appreciated.

Congrats on your offer wizard! I loved St. Andrews, just didn't know if I could handle it for three years though. I just got into UCL and SOAS so I'm fairly excited now for the next 2 weeks. Good luck!

No probs alexkay! :) And congratulations on your offer too wizard!

warblersrule: re Cuneiform Studies, I've had a poke around the Oriental Institute, and I couldn't actually find anyone doing the course (I suspect they take on very few people). However, I did manage to dig up the graduate handbook for Cuneiform Studies, which will hopefully be of use to you.

http://www.orinst.ox.ac.uk/nme/cunei-mphil.pdf

Thanks. :)

Ooh, congrats, alexkay! Now here's crossing fingers for Oxford :D

warblersrule - I found someone who does Cuneiform Studies :) I sent you an email.

Apparently they're going to have finished up all UK interviews by a week from today, so they'll start sending letters on the Friday!!! Eeek.

Hey Laylah, do you know anyone who's doing PPE?

wizard: I know a couple of people doing PPE - do you have specific questions you want me to ask them? :)

Oooh, and good luck guys! :D

My college, Pembroke, is dispatching the letters tomorrow.
Wee bit of nerves setting in.

Yeah, I was wondering about comparative politics - specifically, do nuclear studies come up at all?

I'm applying to read the PPE too!
University.
I'm pretty sure I didn't get in though... I failed that PPE admissions test.

I got in! Has anyone else heard yet?

Congratulations!

I'm waiting with baited breath!

Good luck! We'd both be doing PPE, right?

WOW congrats AnnieRose!!!!!!

and this may be a stupid question, but what does PPE mean?

philosophy, politics, and economics.

i wonder why pakistan is the place with the lowest app success ratio. I mean, THE only country with admit rate of 7.6%, where all others are 16% or higher..

oh my god congratulations AnnieRose!!!!!!!
which college??
I have no idea when Univ sends their decisions. I'm in another country so I hope they email me. I haven't met a single other person who's applied or gotten in univ PPE, not even on The Student Room.
I pretty much know it's a rejection but I hate waiting. the more I wait the more I start to think there's an inkling of hope...

haha oops I just read your prev post about Hertford. :)
