Quick Questions:
1) What's the average ("middle 50%") ACT range for selected finalists?
2) If you're not in the top 5% of your class, do you not qualify for Questbridge? (My school has a REALLY harsh grading system and they just adopted a new GPA system this year...many people who were near the top have been pushed back a few spots.)

What is the most common income bracket for those who are matched? How would a combined income of in the mid $30,000s look?

AmbitiousMind, I'm pretty sure you can still apply even though you may not be in the top 5% of your class. I don't think there is a cut off when it comes to stats.

^^The reason why I ask is because on the Questbrige website, they say that majority of the students selected as finalists are in the top 5%. I just hope that they understand how competitive my high school is...plus I have a large class size ~500.

Does anyone have an answer to my question about the average ACT scores?

When QB says that they will forward your application if you were not a finalist, does it mean the WHOLE application including your teacher's rec. letters, score reports, and essays??? Some schools won't accept the QB application in lieu of their own appy so does that mean they only look at your essays??

Hey Kyledavid,
have you finished editing my essay yet? Thank you!

Kyledavid, we need you! ;)

When are the deadlines to schedule interviews if we are applying through QB match program?

There Are Interviews?

^ No. Questbridge schools understand that since everything's so early, you'll be probably only be scheduled an interview AFTER you know you're matched so dont worry about them

THANKS it freaked me out a little because i read through this whole thread and the FAQs on Questbridge inside out and didn't remember seeing anything about interviews. Lol

Haha he figured out how to use the website, thanks guys.

Regarding the interviews, questbridge does not schedule them, but individual schools will contact you for one. Both Yale and Princeton contacted my DD last year for them. She did have her Yale interview in November, but then cancelled her Princeton one as she was matched with another binding school. It might be a good idea to be prepared with interview questions for those schools who might request them

That's excellent advice from GA2012MOM. Spend some time at the websites of the schools you're interested in which have alumni interviews and come up with some questions. (Just a note, Stanford does not have interviews.) Also, quite a few schools as part of their recruitment process have current students call and ask if you have any questions about the college. My son found having a list of questions by the phone last year to be helpful. I think he got those calls from students after regular admissions decisions came out. I don't know if QB kids would get similar calls earlier, but doubt they would.

Don't stress out about interviews. View them as a time to learn more about a school and whether it is the right place for you. My son had three alumni interviews last year as part of his application process (HYP) and really enjoyed them. To prepare he did two things. He went to each school's website and came up with those specific questions. We also got a copy of "How to Get Into the Top Colleges," a book which your school library or guidance office may have and went through the chapter it had on possible interview questions. He had me ask him all the questions. Then he went to his interviews and never had to answer anything like the sample questions in the book! However, he said he felt a lot more confident going into the interview because he knew he was well-prepared and that sense of confidence helped him relax and enjoy learning more about the school from the alumni. The kind of people who volunteer to do these are really great. My son's experience was they care about kids and they care about their school. His interviewers all wanted him to go to their school and enjoy the same kind of wonderful experiences they had. I know it isn't a QB school, but probably some of you are applying to Harvard as well. As part of their interviews in the past they have had the interviewer ask what your ACT or SAT test scores were, including your subject tests. I don't know why since Admissions has this info. But anyway, know what your scores are.

Has anyone gotten any email or snail mail from Yale, Stanford, or Columbia? When I won my College Prep Scholarship, I had marked strictly liberal arts schools yet I have received booklets from Yale and Stanford. I also got an email from Columbia today that said, "We learned about some of your achievements through the QuestBridge College Prep Scholarship Program, and your records indicate that you may be competitive for admission to Columbia University. "

Do these events mean anything or am I looking into them too deeply?

I think almost every QB partner college has sent out something -- usually viewbooks -- to almost every CPS winner; at least that's been the case in this house. I wouldn't read anything into which ones you've received and which ones you haven't.

Does anyone know the asnwer to the question regarding applying to QuestBridge RD but not EA? Can we even do that?

If you don't rank any colleges at all and are selected as a finalist, you can apply RD with your QB application (check the RD table QB provided). If you don't rank any schools, QuestBridge will just skip you when it comes to the matching process. That only applies if you're selected as a finalist though.

If you mean, can you apply to QuestBridge around the time RD comes around, then no, you can't.

Would colleges look down on you if you skipped the match process even if you were a finalist?

is anyone else having trouble accessing the fax cover sheet?
my transcript along with the cover sheet is due by the 30th correct?

^ They are both due on the Sept 30, right. Email questbridge if you still can't access it on a different computer
