Official 2008 Questbridge National College Match Discussion and Help

@Zester,

Right, so if you don't mark any colleges but DO become a finalist, you can do ED. But you cannot do ED and the Match program. If you are not a finalist, you can also apply for ED.

Oh, okay, that clears things up.
So now about the application.
If you become a finalist and marked colleges, do you or can you send them their Common App application with revised essays and information?
And whether you become a finalist or not, and didn't mark colleges, are you also allowed to send them a new common application, or will QB automatically send them your information?

I just want to rewrite my essays, thats why.

P.S. If you become a finalist with no marked colleges and you still apply to them, does finalist status simply give you a higher chance of admittance, or simply more scholarship consideration?

If you're a relatively high income student (140k a year), would applying through QB give any advantage? Or would it just not be tailored right?

^It would not give you an advantage. QB is tailored for low income students.

P.S. I forgot to ask.
What if you marked colleges, become a finalist, but don't get matched for any school?
Can you also do ED then to any school?

is anyone else having a trouble accessing the application site on questbridge?

I am - I think that message is saying that their database is down.

yay its working now. haha

but i have a question. under academic information, where we write down each year's classes and corresponding grades, do we have to include classes like health, gym, drawing? or just the core courses?

I dont understand. If the october sat wont get to QB in time, how can one be a finalist? How can one participate in the matching process?

cc3c, the sat IIs will have to be sent directly to the schools you've ranked, if i remember correctly.

thanks, would i have to rush the scores?

well i think after you get the scores, there will be ample time for you to send them. what i did was, when registering for the oct sat, i put the top 3-4 schools for my scores to be sent to (because collegeboard lets you get a few free recipients).

Thanks! Does Anyone Want To Critique My Qb Bio Essay?? The Deadline Is In 3 Days

Thank you so much kyledavid80!

When selecting the final grade we received for each class on our transcript (not the GPA portion, but self reporting your 9-12 academic transcript), are we supposed to mark grades according to QB's scale or my school's scale? For example, I received 92s and 93s in several classes (their worth an "A" according to QB), but my school sees them as a "B," which is what my offical transcript will read. So, should I base those grades off of my school's grading scale or QB's?

Also, where do we put 8th grade courses taken for high school credit (under the 9th grade box?)? Are we even supposed to include them in our recalculated GPA?

Thanks for the help!

im pretty sure 8th grade courses are not included... In fact, I can not even recall the classes I took in 8th grade

Oh, they're on my transcript...that's why I ask. Thanks though! You're probably right.

What about my first question about self reporting grades? Do we use QB's scale or our school's?

I Just Sent Mine!!! :) :) :)

AmbitiousMInd
I believe that QB's scale is used only if your guidance counselor does not calculate it for you. Use your school's, but it shouldn't matter since QB will see your transcript, and if they disagree, they will most likely change it.

I just submitted mine too! Whew, that's a relief lol
