would it be a problem to have the teacher recs faxed in on tuesday? ive heard of the 48hr processing time but on an email i got from qb (the automated ones) it says that it just needs to be submitted before the deadline.

Well I haven't even pressed the "submit" button yet (just checking it over one more time before I do) but I have started the Common App (just in case) since there is so much informatin that is in tandem with the QB app.

I'm probably getting ahead of myself but since my recommendtions were faxed to QuestBridge, how would I get those to Common App and schools if necessary? I gave my recommenders the Common App recommendation paperwork (I printed from online) at the same time as QB's so I THINK that I will just have to have them submit those to Common App/schools or send them in sealed? Any of you 2007ers know?

Thanks and good luck to everyone! :)

^ I would also like to know about tsprite's question.

Yay, I'm done with the application! Thanks everyone for their help. If anyone wants me to edit their essays or anything, send it to me at raminrajaii325@yahoo.com and i'll do my best.

Peace

To answer fastdry's question, when I emailed QB today they told me :

"...While reviewing your application, if we see that you are missing a recommendation or another file, we will go back and look for it and only accept it if it has the time stamp on the fax before the deadline..."

Hopefully that helps!

And I'd like to know the answer to tsprite's question also :D

friend is taking oct 4th sat I for the first time. It says on QB that she can send her scores for the colleges she ranked, but will she be eligible to become finalist? Thanks

^cc3c, I'm not too sure but according to this page QuestBridge College Match Program - Required Standardized Tests the scores from the Oct 4th test might not be used when deciding a finalist.

I also have a question regarding test scores.

The ACT scores from the Sept 13 test are available online now (though the writing has not been scored yet). I want to include it in my QuestBridge application, but I'm not too sure what to do. Should I self report it on the app without the writing score or just add a field for it and leave everything blank? Or do I ask my counselor to fax in a copy of whatever scores I have access to now? (Basically a printout of the scores page on the ACT website).

This FAQ question National College Match Program: FAQ says that I should ask my counselor to fax in the scores when they're ready, but does that mean even after the deadline has passed too since the full report won't be ready until early October?

Can someone shed some light on both mine and cc3c's questions?

Thanks in advance!

thanks mich,

i actually have the same question you have regarding the act scores. do we just print them and send them in (b/c the website says there not actual score reports esp. since their missing writing) or do we wait until oct and then send the complete scores in?

My counselor just stuck the scores that they get from the ACT and SAT if you choose to have it sent to your school as well.

Okay, so I would really like to go to MIT, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, or John Hopkins University for undergrad. I am currently a high school junior in a very rural area.

Essential stats:

4.0 unweighted GPA(4.7 weighted)
Ranked number 1 in my class
I will have taken 9 Ap's at the end of junior year, and about 16 by the end of Senior year. THis is more Ap's than my school even offers, as two are online. WAY more Ap's than anyone else in my school

2200 SAT 1, but that was early soph year so I assume it will be at least 2300 when I retake it.

EC's:
President of Key Club (VERy time intensive)

Captain of academic team three years running (* forst freshman from my county to have ever made the state competitive academic team)

President of Student council for three years

Founder and president of a poverty awareness club taht raises money for a particular homeless shelter. We also visit the shelter and do other things.

Independent research at UF since sophomore year

founder of "Cyber Buddies" program at my local library that teaches old people how to use computers.

I teach computer programming calsses at teh local library

income = 20,000 dollars/year
That is pretty much it.

What are my chances of getting matched with one of my choice colleges through questbridge???

From the Common App site FAQ - https://app.commonapp.org/CommonApp/FAQ.aspx

"As part of the application process, schools require a variety of information to be provided by teachers and guidance counselors who have interacted with you in the high school environment. Until this year, those forms were available as PDF files that could be printed, copied, and mailed to the appropriate colleges. In 2008-2009, each teacher and counselor will have the option to complete the forms online via the Common App Online School Forms system if they desire. There is no cost to you or high schools, and using the online system is completely optional for your teachers and counselor.

When you create an account on the Common App Online, you must first indicate what high school you attend. Once this information has been saved, you can access a 'School Forms' section of the Common App where teachers and counselors can be identified. By adding a teacher or counselor to the list of school officials, an email is triggered to the teacher or counselor with information about how to log into the Online School Forms system or how to opt for the "offline" or paper process. You are then able to track the progress of your various teachers and counselors via a screen within the Common App Online."

Okay, so I translate that to say it is a procedure similar to QuestBridge's. We have the option of online or paper. I thought I remembered reading somewhere we could "copy" our teachers recommendations to paste onto the school's apps (since many of us are applying to numerous colleges). It could be I am hallucinating due to brain overload!! ROFL

I would still like clarification (okay I'm looking for a simple answer here!!)on the copy/paste issue.

Come on 2007'ers we can hear ya breathing out there! ;)

woww..... you must be a machine. i dont get how you can take 7 APs in one year O.O

Regarding ACT scores, I can only tell you about the process from last year. DD printed out scores from ACT site and faxed them to Questbridge, but was required to send official copies to the schools she ranked.

Yes!!!! Yes!!!! Yes!!!

I Pressed The Button!!!!!!!! :)

So I pressed the submit button for my app and it says "Completed and Submitted." However, one of my recommendations is still not in yet. Is that ok??!

^As long as it is submitted before 11:59 pm PST on Tuesday, then it should be alright. I would give a friendly reminder to the teacher on Monday if I were you.

A quick question, since I'm confused about match.
If you say, put down 6 colleges, and you get finalist status - are you automatically binded to the highest ranking college that you put down?
Or is it that you're binded to the highest college that picks you after November 1st?
I was meaning to do ED to Penn, and I put them down as #1 on match, so then I thought if I became a finalist, I could do ED to them anyway, even if I had 4 other schools?
Or would that only be possible if I did Penn 1st choice, and then Yale and MIT second and third since they're non binding?

Zester, it sounds from your post like you want to simultaneously apply ED to Penn through its own ED program AND participate in the College Match listing Penn as your first choice. That is not allowed under the QB program. You will have to decide whether to participate in the Penn ED program or the College Match. Personally I'd go with the College Match.

wow, is everyone applying with a 4.0/2300???

im sorry i have three more questions. i just wanna make sure im correct

my act score came in yesterday but it wasnt the official report and didnt have my writing score. i should still print that out and fax it to qb?

also my teacher recs CAN be faxed in tuesday as long as its before tuesday 12 pst?

also im not a citizen and i put down that i was "in the process". only three colleges take non-citizens (pton, pomona, and yale i think) but im not doing rd or ranking them. so if i rank 8 other schools will i be eligible to get matched or is there no reason to rank at all and should i just forward my qb app for rd?
