Official 2008 Questbridge National College Match Discussion and Help

Here's part of an email from QB today:

Most colleges require the following (for Finalists): transcripts, test scores, CSS PROFILE, and tax forms. Note that if you have ranked Columbia, Princeton, Stanford, the University of Chicago, the University of Pennsylvania, or Yale, you will need to submit their school-specific applications. You are welcome to re-use your QuestBridge essays in their applications if they fit the prompts.

^ really??!!! they'll let us reuse our essays?!!

oh that would help so much. I just look at the Yale supplement and it is DEATH. made me rethink if i should just do EA instead...

we can reuse for the common app AND the school specific applications?

^ Yup. I mean we wrote 3 essays for Questbridge and the Common App asks only for 1

I was under the assumption that even if the schools want the Comman App as well as their supplements they would still have access/read the QB application. If this is the case then I don't think you'd want to reuse the essays for their supplements. If they don't have access to the QB application then what good is QB for regular admissions?

If I become a finalist, what's the latest SAT or ACT that I can send to the colleges I'm applying through questbridge?

If you took the SAT in October, those are the latest scores you will be able to send in to make the deadline.

if a finalist, can i withdraw my application, then apply early to cornell, but if i get rejected, apply RD with my QB application?

OR---

If not a finalist, can i apply early to other schools?

hey guys

were we supposed to have faxed in an "official" score report from Collegeboard to Questbridge? Because I thought as long as we sent in a score report provided from the school we attend, that should be okay? I mean, on the score report provided from my school, it does say "official" but it's not a printout copy from the Collegeboard..

but seriously, it would be insane of colleges to expect us to write 5 essays with 2 months!

we already did 3 for QB, and some schools want the common app personal statement AND a supplemental essay! ><

unefille - they just want it verified by your school. I wouldn't sweat it, if I were you!

athenegoddess - Which is why QB applicants are encouraged to recycle essays! If you have the mental willpower to crank out another set of essays, go right ahead but I'm personally going to do as Questbridge recommended in its email - which is to adjust the essays to fit the prompts and be done with it.

no one wants to answer my q :(

laststopforme: hmm ok. I'll prob end up doing this... I really don't have the stamina to write so much again ><

@cc3c -

"if a finalist, can i withdraw my application, then apply early to cornell, but if i get rejected, apply RD with my QB application?"

To the first part, yes you can definitely do that. For the second part, I'm not 100% sure but I don't think you can have Questbridge forward your application formally because cornell is not a partner school.

"If not a finalist, can i apply early to other schools?" Definitely.

In a few emails QB has sent they've said to send any updated SAT scores to them via the link on our My Locker page. ...Where is that link? Do they just mean to print out the fax form and fax it again?

@brittany2009 - I think its that fax test scores form. Give your scores to your guidance counselor and have him/her fax it with that fax coversheet. You might want to email Questbridge to double check

EDIT: And you can still access your My Locker page, I just checked

laststopforme:

thank you !! i was getting depressed that no one responded to my q.

If I apply through questbridge, is the deadline absolutely 11-3? Because that's the date for the early actions. Can I still apply through questbridge in a regular decision style? because I need to have my new ACT scores in 10-25 to be incorporated into the application.

a Princeton's admission officer told me that they don't look at the questbridge application, just the common app. Therefore, we can reuse the essays but they have to fit the prompt. its like any other common app application

I have a question:
Next to my teacher recs it still says they haven't been started. I've sent them TWICE already! Questbridge has also sent me emails confirming that they've received them. What should I do?
