Official 2008 Questbridge National College Match Discussion and Help

I just got an email from Questbridge after emailing them about extended deadline applications, and they told me that they review applications as they come in and that they're not going to wait until the 12th (extended) deadline to get my application. The thing is I had already submitted by application on the 5th, but it wasn't my most polished one. Also I needed to add some things to it and take some stuff out, but now I realize that it wont really matter will it? I mean they probably will go ahead and look at the one I sent in the earliest no?

"a Princeton's admission officer told me that they don't look at the questbridge application, just the common app. Therefore, we can reuse the essays but they have to fit the prompt. its like any other common app application"

then what is it about QUESTBRIDGE that helps if princeton wont even LOOK at it?

They WILL know you are a QB finalist, which alone will let them know you have circumstances of some kind. Princeton WILL read QB apps for the match round, but I'm sure the adcom was referring to RD. Even in RD, they will have your QB app in addition to the common app, and although I don't know, I would assume they review ALL material they have to make a decision.

no she flat out said she will not read the questbridge app. in either. its just the fact that you're a QB finalist that matters

I don't know how to copy it, but it does say on the QB Match page that the partner colleges that do use their own app use the QB app as a supplement. Also since Princeton doesn't have ED, being a QB finalist and having them ranked is your only chance of getting in before RD.

Does anyone know what percentage of applicants become Finalists?

About half of the applicants became finalists in the past few years.

2005 National College Match Program Results - Acceptance Rates

getting matched is at least 50%
the hard part is getting matched... wayyy less than half

im still shocked that princeton wont look at the questbridge app... it have all the short responses and 3 essays!!

can the october 25 act count into the questbridge app?

Thanks.

Ougnala, considering finalists are announced on the 24th, it can't.

poisonivy1241: oh darn. I submitted mine a week earlier but I have an extended deadline. since it won't make a difference... I guess it's too late to change anything?

So, if I'm named a finalist, some of the schools require sending "copies of parents' recent paystubs or other verification for current-year's income." However, both of my parents are unemployed, and therefore do not have paystubs at all for this year. What other verification for 2008 (meaning, not the 2007 tax return) can I send? I already emailed QuestBridge (and the schools themselves) but they haven't responded. This is important because our income from this year is drastically different from last year, and not on the road to getting back to what it was before; I think it would make a difference in my getting matched or not (because they do consider income as a factor as well). I don't know how to show them this. I was completely unaware of the difference when I filled out my QuestBridge app (my dad only shared the information with me today), so it's not noted on there. I wonder if there's anything I can do...

the matching process will be intense...

i'm confused. people are claiming that schools do not look at the QB application at all. how is this possible, when some of the schools do not require the common app. or a specific app.? what would they use to admit us?

Most schools will look at the QB application with the exception of some schools...

I have completed the CSS profile and was wondering if I submit that now or wait until QuestBridge's decision on finalists.

Same question on sending scores from College Board to "match" schools if selected as a finalist. Do we wait to do that if we are selected or just go ahead and have them sent on the 23rd when they come out?

i think you just send them, you would have to wait until mid dec to know if ur matched

I thought you find out if you are matched by the end of November?

really?? i thought it was mid december

Finalists are notified of College Match results on December 1st.

If not matched, deadline for RD app forwarding requests is December 15th. :)
