Official 2008 Questbridge National College Match Discussion and Help

sligh:

Stop scaring me. lol, i really really hope not.. I guess we'll find out next wekk now wont we? AHH

It could be a reality if the endowments of the these schools are getting shaky. I certainly hope not, though. I am really depending on QB!

The endowments of several Ivy League colleges are growing at really healthy 10%+ rates so that's sort of a relief I guess...

It is in times of desperate financial situation that those in need fall into even greater need - (Questbridge, if you're reading this, keep that in mind!!)

Hey my teacher recommendations and the couselor recomm. never show on my profile although it says sent? Why?

Be careful with the teacher recommendations and transcript. "Somehow" one of our teacher recomm and transcript were "never received." We ended up having to resubmit them. Questbridge is pretty quick about answering the questions, though.

Okay. So we're supposed to ask our teachers to resend teacher recs to schools right? And before Nov 3rd ?? Should my counselor fill out another form as well and send it? are these letters of rec different from the QB forms, and are the Common App forms? I'm so confused...

if i send in my transcript now and end up not being a finalist, will schools hold onto it for regular decision or will i need to send all that paperwork again?

^ They will open a file for you so you don't have to worry about having to send it again.

@athenegoddess - It really depends on which college you're applying to. Look at the requirements. Some schools require teacher recs AND the secondary school report (essentially the guidance counselor rec) again, which is kind of annoying. I think all of Questbridge's partner schools use the Common App but if not, then you'll obviously have to use the school-specific application forms.

Questbridge FYI sent out an email today about the requirements so that should clear some things up.

How come some of us do not get these emails? why?!!!!

i got one, i dint get hte prior one tho..

does anybody know which app colleges read?
Like the QB one or the common app ??

because I def. forgot stuff for the QB app..

I would advise all applicants to print out the information for each school you ranked. Most of the questions you have been asking are answered on these pages. It should not be a shock to you that there are deadlines, they are clearly stated. Make a check list for each of your schools and go from there. Good luck to all of you, QB is a wonderful program, and the rewards are worth your diligence.

laststopforme, not all of QB's partner schools require the commonapp for the match process, if that's what you meant.

@stasis - You're right. But the colleges that require students to submit "their" application over the QB one use primarily the Common App.

If I'm still not making sense, please take GA2012MOM's advice and just go to the website. LOL if everyone did that, this thread would have been no more than 50 pages long

i'm really hoping that UChicago doesn't look too deepy into the QB essays. because they require their specific application AND the common application. and for their specific app, i'm using sort of the same concept (from my QB essay) for one of their special essays.

Does anyone know if you have to fill out the non-custodial waiver form if one of your parents is dead? My father has been dead since '91 and it seems as if the non-custodial waiver form is geared towards kids with a parent with whom they don't speak to/have contact with. Help?

^ hey Sligh! Try emailing them... they've always replied within a day for my questions.

Stasis: actually, according to QB, they encourage you to copy and paste your essays, as long as they fit the prompt. so you're fine :)

If you have the time, I would try to pull out another essay to file in just so that they can see another perspective of you.
It can only help your chances. That's what I'm doing. So I'll need to come up with 2 essays tomorrow and 2 next week. :)
