Official 2008 Questbridge National College Match Discussion and Help

but honestly, do they want to actually READ 5 essays??

I would be really annoyed if I was the admissions officer... but that's just my humble opinion.

if you can do, go for it i guess! :P

I agree with athenegoddess...I would personally be ticked off if I had to read THAT many essays even if all of them were amazing

so, email from QB says that we just have to enter the SAT scores into QB app, does that mean we dont have to fax it? But it tells u to print the scores..... then what?

I got an email this past week from QB stating we could get an email instructing us what to do with the October 4th SAT scores, but I never received the email.

Sligh_Anarchist, you do not have to fill out the non-custodial waiver form if one of your parents is deceased. On the QB application under Household information you were asked to enter what year a deceased parent passed away. The QB staff will know your family situation from that entry. I'm sorry to learn of your loss.

Thanks for the information, 2blue. Losses happen, unfortunately. I am just grateful I was only a year old at the time; it's immensely worse when one is cognizant of the world.

oh crap. I realized I put in the wrong info for my mom's graduation. AGH.

I don't think they can change that though...

^ If it's off by a few years, don't worry about it. If it's really drastic, maybe email them to just let them know?

Approx. 5 days left guys!!!

Haha, so many CCers make me feel so hopeless! I hope none of us spent all that time and effort for nothing...

i have my facebook status as a countdown for a. questbridge finalist announcement b. dec. 1st for college results assuming i make it c. end of school.

it's official. i'm a loser :)

^Haha, "end of school." I'm digging the attitude :D

omg, 5 days...

OMG I HOPE IM FINALIST !!

Good luck guys, again....

4 days until SATS

TWO QUESTIONS

Do colleges read ALL QUESTBRIDGE ESSAYS? If not, ISN'T IT MORE ADVANTAGEOUS TO SEND IN EXACTLY THE QUESTBRIDGE ESSAYS(ESPECIALLY THE PERSONAL ESSAY, ALTHOUGH IT'S 800 WORDS LONG?)

Are we SUBMITTING THE SAT SCORES by updating the mylocker page AND by FAX?

no, they just look at the fact that ur a finalist i think.

Submitting sat scores by updating application and send the print out by fax.

Haha, cc3c. Ya need to chill and relax a bit dude. I mean if you don't get matched by QuestBridge you can always go to Harvard, right? :D

doesn't it depend on the school? Whether or not they read all the essays?

the years are off by 5 for my mom's graduation. For some reason, I put down she graduated from both college AND grad school in the same year! eek. I hope they don't think that i'm stupid and then not give me finalist..

btw, when it says submitted by Nov. 3rd, do they mean postmarked by? Or received?

Collegeboard says it'll take them 3-5 weeks to send score reports :/ I registered for but didn't end up taking the Oct SATIIs so it's holding them in limbo until the 23rd. I'm worried that the SAT scores won't make it in time!

postmarked. i have a question, do I have a higher chance of getting in applying early decision to upenn, after becoming finalist and withdrawing QB app, than applying ed to cornell?

quicksandslowly:

hehe, im worried? im a dudette :)

I want to give my teachers and counselor the MIT recomendation form tomrrow, but i do not know if I should indicate early action or regular action on the form? I'll apply early action even if i i'm not a finalist, but in the event that i am, should i still circle early action? (I ask this because i know some school ask students to indicate "regular decision" on the common app. i just want to know if MIT does the same...it doesn't say on the QB website.)
