*OFFICIAL* 2012-2013 AP Art History Thread

i thought Gukaizhi’s admonition of instructress of courtladies is a good one for narrative.

Do you think Muybridge’s Galloping Horse would be ok for post 1800?

I got super lucky and just finished studying The Georges Pompidou Centre in France, I’ve got to admit, it was pretty perfect for the last short answer response.

I used Bernini’s Ecstasy of St. Theresa for a Narrative lol. You have to admit the story behind that one is pretty errr interesting. Ahhaaaaa. And the Realism FRQ, that one was by far the easiest one there was on that exam. Thank god our teacher went over Millet and Courbet a couple of times!

image-based MC are up, 30/36 here. so relieved, the book cover, first set of doors, and romanticism images i had never seen before…also thought thew taj mahal was a palace, apparently not. much better than i expected. anyone else?

i got 31/36, 3 wrong answers came from the taj mahal because we never studied that=/

31/36 for me. One question wrong in every image set.

34/36 correct on the image based MC, I think I did really well on the non-image based MC (missed 6, perhaps… I can’t really remember anymore), but my essays were kind of bad.

I BSed the pilgrimage essay (St.

where do u find the answer?

ummm…28/36 for the image based…but i think the long essays might put me up…also i did quite well on the MC.

Hi all. I felt pretty confident but it was my first Ap and I have a few questions you could help me answer.

  1. Would the Akua Ba count as a narrative, and did both works have to be from the eurpoean tradition for the narrative
  2. Would Borobudur count as a pilgramage sight
  3. I KNEW it was Giotto. but I was blanking on the name and said “the artist who painted the frescos of the arena chapel”. I had a good arguement. will i get points?
  4. We never studied mosques. I self studied right before and mentioned hypostyle halls, mirhabs, and its lack of icons. HOWEVER, a few people told me that it was asking how it was NOT like traditional mosques. Were they right? did I read over the question too quickly?
  5. I only had time for a 4 sentence reply to the technology question and used Marilyn Diptych and bsed it. I had a strong but underdeveloped argument.
  6. How did you accesses those answers?
I felt really well prepared for the test and feel like I got a 4- or hopefully a 5.

guys are all feeling confident…not a good sign…usually people who think they dont do as well as they think would get a better score…

No, it was just a really easy test this year. definitely easier than 2012’s for me. My teacher was also excellent and really prepared us (despite for skipping the islamic tradition). I ended up getting a 33/36 on the multiple choice (without even knowing the Taj Mahal). If the rest of my test is like that (which I’m sure it is), I’m sure my confidence is a good sign.

I got a 34/36 on Slide ID MC, though pretty happy with that since I never read about the Taj Mahal. I was really proud of my first FRQ on St. Sernin and the Great Stupa. For the Courbet v. Millet short response I discussed how Courbet showed the middle class how they truly were-monochromatic colors, burial of no significance (even the dog doesn’t care), realistic looking peasants, for Millet-he glorified them with some dignity as they seem part of the landscape itself as they don’t break the horizon lines, and patterns of 3 are throughout the work, and the 1848 revolutions.

@chandlersyf, the test was reeeally easy this year, or at least for me it was (and maybe for others). APAH is considered one of the hardest classes at my school from all the work and tests, I personally never made below an A on a chapter test and feel very comfortable discussing art, I feel as if therefore I will get a 5, worst case scenario 4. The curve perhaps may be bad though.

This curve is going to suck xD

art history is one of the classes where u need an innate sense, not just pure hard work.

Guys I’m concerned. If I used the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem & the Hagia Sophia of Turkey, would those be good for my FRQ #1?

Do you think that Guernica and The Book of Kells would count as narratives?

HELP!!!hey…can anyone help me answer this? the teacher wrote an incident report of me to collegeboard because i worked on the 7 short answers first…but the teacher knows that my action was unintentional and specifically stated that he didnt believe it was cheating…how will the collegeboard look at this incident???

hey how’d you guys find the answers to the imaged base MC? I can only find the questions
