*OFFICIAL* 2012-2013 AP Art History Thread

I couldn't find a thread for 2012-2013 so I figured I would start one. Feel free to post anything related to AP Art History; also, anyone that has taken it, please post with some words of advice and good review books to use.

As for me, I will be taking this course online and then essentially self-studying it, as the course is not very thorough nor focused on the content. Here's to a 5 in Art History!

I’m taking it online too! I go to an IB school and I want to major in art. I think this class will be really fun actually. Wish me luck!

I’ll be taking the class. Part of my Summer assignment is to read the REA book up to Roman art, which I’m almost done with.

Hey guys do you think I can take this class even if I’m not an artsy person?

You could probably take it, its mostly memorization and history as opposed to art, from what I’ve read.

I have a great Art History teacher so I will be looking forward towards the upcoming school year!

I’m really worried about this AP, it seems like a lot of memorization and I only have good memory short term…

Where is everybody at right now in terms of the material?

Hey guys, my AP ART class is a joke right now. Where is every one at as of October 19? Thanks i want to see how much ground i need to make up.

We just started studying Early Medieval Art. Where are you at?

I’m in a Talented Art course (I’m a sophomore) at my high school that does not offer APAH and I’m self studying. In class we learn a little bit about art history, but nothing substantial enough to get me a good grade on the exam by itself. So I bought the Barron’s book because my friend heard good things about it, and I might buy The Annotated Mona Lisa

We’re still on the Greeks, but we’ve been out of school for quite some time thanks to the hurricane. I’ve already read most of my Barrons book because I think it’s interesting and I have quite a bunch of other in-class and self-study APs that I’ll probably cram for the day before, so I figure it wouldn’t be a bad thing to get this out of the way now. On a side note, I’m doing extremely well in the class (which surprises me) and most others are failing.

We’re wrapping up our Northern Renaissance art unit and we’re going to do the Italian Renaissance until the end of the semester.

My class is in the Roman Empire. We’re using Gardners Art through the Ages 12th edition. Memory is key in this class

I just decided that I want to take this test and my school doesn’t offer any AP courses:/
do you think i can cram all the info through self-studying by may 2013 (in the next semester)? i’m a junior and dont think im gonna have time next semester

just got the Barron’s AP Art History book

We are wrapping up the enlightenment (French / Neoclassical art). Where are you guys at? Thank you.

Wow that’s fast Ohhgeee… We are barely on the Early Italian Renaissance 0.0

Haha, you think that’s fast?! We’re done with all the art! (all the way through postmodernism). My school is on a 4x4 schedule though, so this class had to be half a year long. Now reviewing for 4 months :)

^^^ I envy you haha. What book is your school using?

We’re using Stokstad, which reads easier than Gardener’s from what I’ve heard.
