*Official 2012 AP World History Thread*

I have no idea. The Egyptians? o.o

Anyways, do any of you recommend taking the World History SAT Subject Test? I’m only a freshman, so would colleges not even consider my score even if I perform well?

And yea, I don’t have a question :b

i need a 4 or higher on the ap test or i basically wasted 6 months of my life… (because getting 3,2,1 doesnt count as anything in college)

i have a 90% in the class, teacher gives very generous curves… our class is in the middle of the industrial revolution

Which Islamic ruler promoted interaction between Hindus & Muslims, abolished the jizya, and implemented policies promoting religious toleration?

A) Selim II
B) Suleyman
C) Ishmail
D) Akbar

Akbar…lol, I took WHAP two years ago and I still remember. Although, to be honest, the only reason I remember the answer is because of the Bollywood movie, Jodha Akbar. Lol…is anyone else on here Indian?

for anyone who took the AP World exam already, is it heavily asia based or is there an equal mixture of asian and european history? Of course, the European history comes easily to me and is very interesting but I find the Asian history to be boring at times.

Well, I don’t remember exactly what was on the exam, but it seemed as if there was an emphasis on non-European history. Have you taken AP European History? You might be more interested in that class and you would probably do very well on that exam.

My teacher says that every region is equal in terms of what you need to know.

So, you need to know Asian history as well as you know European history and African history. Only a certain amount of European history can be included on the exam.

Asian history is like a root canal for me at this point I do not want to ever have to do anything history related again.

Which type of metallurgy came first?

A) Gold
B) Bronze
C) Copper
D) Iron

@Awflapjackz you’re a freshie? O.o cool! Yeah, I’d recommend it  I mean, you’re already studying your butt off for the test, might as well get all you can out of it. A lot of schools require a lot of subjects tests anyways. I’m taking the subject test as well, june 2, and frankly, I looked at the subject test questions and they look easier than the AP exam!! Anyone else doing the same?

im taking them as well in may to prevent having to study twice

Is it bronze? I think…

And julieannab, sadly I am. :x And I have looked at practice questions and I have gotten many of them correct without using old notes. I have decided to take it. What can it hurt? It’s only $33.

No, it’s copper.

What early river valley civilization is little known about because of an incomprehensible language?

Who was the last of the Five Good Emperors of Rome?
Claudius
Trajan
Hadrian
Marcus Aurelius

Marcus Aurelius? I think.

What New World/America region imported the largest amount of African slaves?

Southern United States
Haiti
Cuba
Brazil

I’m also considering taking the SAT II World History exam this year. Also a freshman. What do you guys think, should I? :)

You should generally take your SAT II’s after you complete the highest level class you plan on taking for that subject, that way, the information is still fresh in your mind. So unless you plan on taking any more world history classes, go for it!

As for the question, I have a strong urge to say Brazil, although Haiti also seems possible.

It’s Brazil, but Brazil only imported like 1% more slaves than the West Indies (Cuba + Haiti + some other islands in that area) did, but when Brazil is compared to the individual islands, Brazil would have more slaves imported.

Which of the following is the most popular economical system during the Pre-Industrial world?
A) mercantilism
B) capitalism
C) communism
D) feudalism
E) socialism

Good luck guys! Write your essays well. That’s the main thing that I’ve noticed that really influences the grade you get. Truthfully, if you have played a lot of games like Sid Meier’s Civilization series, it really does help a lot to spark an interest in history.
