HEY I HAVE SOME QUESTIONS FOR THE ESSAYS:
I am self-studying this AP because I adore history but I know that the essays must have a certain formula to use.
So let me give some scenarios:
Let’s say that the questions asks you to compare and contrast the Roman and Han empires politically and economically. Does the thesis have to compile all the comparisons, contrasts of the two empires into one paragraph?
CAN SOMEONE GIVE ME AN “ACCEPTABLE” THESIS FOR THIS TOPIC
THEN DO I HAVE TO WRITE THE POINTS THAT I WILL DISCUSS IN THE BODY
Next does the paragraphs have to be THESIS, COMPARE ECONOMIC , CONTRAST ECONOMIC , COMPARE POLITICAL, CONTRAST POLITICAL, CONCLUSION?
ARE THE GRADERS STRICT ON A CERTAIN FORMULA or can it be varied? Please help thanks

Which of the following contributed significantly to the fall of both the western Roman and the Han empires?

A) The destruction of overland trade routes
B) Irregularities in the flow of silver trade
C) New military technologies
D) Invasions by borderland peoples

There doesn’t have to be a specific format that your Compare & Contrast essays have to be in. You just have to address everything that’s in the rubric in your essay for a possible maximum 9 points, the highest that you can get on a single FRQ.

A proper thesis for that particular topic would be something such as “Although the Roman Empire and Han Dynasty were different from each other politically and economically, they were also similar in some ways.” The thesis usually addresses what you are being asked to do by the Compare & Contrast topic. Your introductory paragraph should include your thesis and maybe some background information. You are correct in that your body paragraphs contain all the points that you’re trying to make. Your conclusion paragraph then summarizes the essay.

This will be my first AP test, and the essays seem pretty difficult. I’m in a class, so learning all of the information won’t be a problem (and the Barrons guide came in the mail today :)), so what should I do to master the essay portion between now and May 17th?

If I start a comprehensive review (~45min-1hr a night) after the April 14th ACT, do you think that would give me adequate time to prepare for every aspect of the test? If yes, What should my schedule look like?
If no, what should my schedule look like?

Are you sure that’s right? I thought the test was out of 120 points.

Now that I checked it, you’re right. The actual grading for the exam is the number correct out of the multiple-choice multiplied by 0.8571 plus the raw score of each of the FRQs multiplied by 2.2222. The maximum composite score possible is 120, but I’m unsure what the composite score needed for a 5 is.

I love the class apwh is my favorite this year eventhough my teacher has us study one hour a night regardless of weekends and I feel a lot smarter now that its less than two months until the exam.
