Just out of curiosity, what were your significant new evidences?

I doubt many people will want to say their reasons. Reasons can be personal (like mine), or embarrassing, or both. It’s already humiliating enough to have to beg for admission after being rejected.

In my appeal, I tried to show them that I was worthy of admissions to the university by telling them about my awards and improvements and clearing up some things that may have confused them in my application. I really hope I get accepted though, my SAT score may be the reason that I got rejected before.

I knew it was May 1st I didn’t realize May 1st was already next tuesday! Oh my goodness! I wish they would tell us before then though.

just out of curiosity, if you sir to a school but cal accepts you, can you take cal’s acceptance? would any of you do that?

@ithinkican93
Yes you can sir then decline that school and go with cal. That’s what everyone should be doing. If you don’t, you could be stuck without a college to go to. In the past, only around 3% of appeals have been accepted at cal and UCLA.

They still haven’t updated mine! I am so worried! What should I do?

Maybe you should give them a call, deepster95, though they seem to be putting people on hold for extended periods of time.

6 more days!

I got accepted to UC Irvine this morning with no scholarship it seems. -.-
How good is this school?

@veryfat
In order of prestige, the campuses are usually ranked:
1.Berkeley, UCLA
2. UCSD
3. UCD, UCSB
4. UCI
5. UCSC, UCR
6. UCM
Of course certain campuses are better or worse for certain majors etc. In general, UC school > most other public schools in the rest of the country. They are all “good”.

I would actually have to say:

UC Berkeley, UCLA

UCSD

UCI

UCD, UCSB

UCSC, UCR

UCM

UCI has risen considerably in the past few years though the rankings don’t reflect it right now. This year, it is the 3rd most selective UC, OVER UCSD.

oh I was also offered free application to uc davis. but then i really want to go to ucla or uc berkeley.
I applied for public health/human biology which i think is very competitive I hope they see something in me that makes them want me.

Has anyone been notified yet? I was hoping to know by now… -___-
lol. I thought this stressing over college would be over by now.

Just because a campus is selective doesn’t mean it’s better. That’s like saying cal state long beach is better than ucsb because cal state has a 32% admittance rate. It’s just applied to more. I probably should have put uci on the same line as ucsb and ucd. But they are all so close in ranking. Ucsd definitely comes out second though. Sat’s, admissions and gpa are all a lot higher for admitted students. Whatever, it’s really all relative to what major you want to peruse.

we probably won’t hear until monday (if we’re lucky) but more likely tuesday basing it off last year’s timeline. best luck to everyone

Yeah another student from my school with lower SAT, GPA, no APs, etc, got into Berkeley for Political Science. I was so oblivious to the way this worked. I should of went undeclared or maybe engineering undeclared. :|

And she wants to go to UCR instead of Cal. facepalm

@chyheim
That is so annoying! It seems at every school there is that one idiot who gets into cal/ucla and the entire senior class is like “***? That person has horrible stats!” If u add up all those people that’s a lot of idiots at these colleges. I hope that stupid girl chooses UCR lol. She definitely doesn’t deserve, and won’t cut it at Berkeley.

Wow really college confidential? I can’t write double-U Tee Eff? Haha

Hmmm I wouldn’t judge the girl who got into berk. I feel like no matter what cal only accepts really interesting / phenomenal students. So maybe there’s something else you don’t know about her… And maybe she wants ucr for a diff program. It’s not a horrible school. Granted no Berkeley… But still… Who knows! I wouldn’t be quick to judge tho unless you know her specific stats and background story. Either way… GOOD if she wants to go to ucr. More chances for the rest of us :}

Did anyone hear yet?

I think she’s an amazing girl personality wise, and I’m sure she wrote two really good essays. But it really makes me wonder. I know that my essays were pretty good. I used them for GMS and look where that got me (I’m a scholar).
I think major plays a big part, because she applied to UCSD, which has a really good Political Science program and didn’t get in, yet she got into Cal.
I guess I have a bias opinion because I really want to go to Cal and I see someone wasting space with the option to go and they’re turning it down. I’m jelly.
@Endall yes, when people heard I didn’t get in but she did, they were a bit shocked.
I just hope this appeal gets me in.
