Berkeley 2012 Appeal Thread (For Transfer Students)

Hello fellow transfer applicants!

Decided to create this thread for all of us who hope to get into Berkeley through the appeal process. Now we just have to wait until June 1st to find out, which is coming up soon.

Here's a little bit about me: My appeal is 9 pages long, including letters of recommendation, other supplemental information and transcripts. I'm a Political Science major.

I'm very grateful to have gotten into UCLA, but Berkeley is my dream school, as I am sure it is for everyone else who sent their an appeal.

Please only submit compelling and NEW/PREVIOUSLY UNPRESENTED information in your appeal.

Good luck guys.

Sweet. My appeal was 2 pgs. I included letters of rec, and progress report letters for my current classes to show I’m getting straight As. I didn’t include my transcript thought. I figured they already have all the other info.

when did you mail yours? Did you submit an SIR for ucla just incase? I just submitted my ucla housing app… Exciting stuff. :)

WalterA: Indeed. I believe all of the information in my packet contained new and compelling information that had not been included in my main application.

Including extensive volunteering that I had only briefly mentioned on my application, a medical situation that resulted in a lower GPA and the corrected GPA (long story), letters of recommendation from my professors and other information that had not been part of my initial application.

PinkPoetry: I put in my transcripts to make sure they had the correct GPA, and also included progress reports from all current classes (all A’s). UCLA actually contacted me a few weeks before April 20th and had me fax official transcripts, so I figured it would be best to give Cal them as well. Haven’t yet submitted a SIR to UCLA.

Thank you Walter!! :)

Good luck to you, Bozioless!! Keep in touch with me, because I’ll be PoliSci and got into UCLA too. :)

PinkPoetry: Awesome, glad to have another PoliSci person in this thread!

Just checked myBerkeleyApp this morning, it has now changed to reflect that they have received my appeal. Excited to see how this works out.

Oh wow, very cool! They received my package today… hopefully my update will show soon too. When did you submit yours?

Sent it in the 11th.

Express mail? I guess I should expect mine to update next wk.

Hey just an FYI they wont get back to you until June 1st or later so you will probably have to SIR to another school. But don’t let what happened to me last year happen to you. I SIRed UCLA at around 4pm then at 5pm they called me and said that my appeal was successful. Was pretty annoying lost $100+30(?) (SIR + housing app).

Thanks for the info Reme!! I already submitted my SIR + housing to UCLA juuuust incase. So even though Berk SIRs are due June 1st, you were still able to SIR after the deadline when you got admitted? Btw, congrats on getting in with an appeal!!

Yeah they gave like a week or 2 from the day they changed the decision iirc. Ah oh well I guess your money is already lost if your appeal is successful, good luck anyway.

I mailed my appeal package on May 15th, you guys think it was still on time ? Cuz I have not seen any change yet in myapp :(

Mango, as long as it was post dated on the 15th then you’re fine. I mailed mine on the 15th too.

I just saw the update on my myberkeleyapp page.

What city, satate are you mailing it from? Did you use express mail or regular mail? It’s probably just taking a day longer to reach them.

state*

Mango… what’s your major?

Thanks for sharing, PinkPoetry.

I used Priority to mail it. I live in San Diego, CA and my major is Electrical Engineering.

Hi mango, as PinkPoetry said, as long as it was postmarked on or before the 15th, you’ll be fine. Even once received, it takes a little time for Cal to process your appeal and update your myBerkeleyapp page.

Welcome to the thread, and good luck with your appeal.

i mailed mine on the 15th and my status page had updated

fingers crossed for everyone on this thread!!!
