***Official 2012 UC Berkeley Appeals Thread***

@gamma927-- I was obsessively checking my portal last night until about 9 pm. When I woke up this morning (9 am), I checked and it had changed. I’m assuming it got updated late last night or early this morning.

@VeryFat-- Thank you! I am a California resident.

would it be bad to ask if I could also be considered for another major that is related to my original major?

how come we still can’t create a calnet id?

It won’t let me make my ID either

no calnet id = can’t view financial aid website ):

not being able to make a calnet id makes me nervous ;~;

same… reminds me of the ucla mishap this year.

So as with the rest you, I got rejected Friday. I really believed I had a good chance because everyone I talked to talk and everything I read told me Berkeley LOVES stories. You see, I’m dyslexic and I mentioned how I overcame my learning difference in my personal statement. I applied as a Political Science major.

My PGA: 3.3
My Major PGA: 3.0 - This I believed hurt me the most :frowning:
All Pre-recs done.

I’m thinking of appealing and doing a few things:

 1. Still a poli sci major and just reiterate how I overcame many obstacles
 2. Change majors to philosophy, which has no correlated courses with my JC according to assist, and also reiterate how I overcame many obstacles

Your thoughts? Otherwise I may be seeing some of you at Davis.

my thought exactly moonlight :frowning: hopefully that’s not the case

finally checked and got into CAL  dream come true. good luck to everyone else!

Im a transfer applicant and california resident.I’ve decided to write an appeal letter to UC Berkeley. I’m a English major. My Overall Gpa: 3.3 which is not high I know but most of my Bs come from science courses that I took because I’m still not entirely positive about being pre-med. My major Gpa is a 4.0 and I am planning on having letters of recommendations from professors in my appeals packet. I didn’t include any info about my inclination for pre-med in my app and I do have one C in calculus b/c of personal reasons that I plan to explain in my letter also. Maybe my app didnt display my passion for english and looked random b/c of all my science courses. Is that a good reason to put in an appeal? I chose English because I love it and couldnt imagine majoring in anything else. Idk what else I should add besides examples of my writings. Anyone have any input please?

I am going to count down for my appeal decision tonight… really nervous and really hope that I can get into UCB.

They still haven’t updated mine! What should I do? I tried calling but they never pick up. Was I supposed to do something after I submitted my appeal? Is there a way to contact them? Please help me, I really need this.

nope  tsenchar

I need help! are you a freshman or transfer applicant? I am a transfer applicant that got denied =[ I have a 3.74, VP of a volunteer services club, honors certified, had a unique (but still good) personal statement, what happened? =[ im appealing on a means of extreme financial hardship that mildly affected my scholastic achievement, but still managed to pull off a 3.7 and i presented my paper at UCI’s honors research conference. do i have a chance? should i send a rec letter? did you?

please help! im a transfer applicant and i got rejected =[ but I want to appeal, any tips?

@rajkobie: I was accepted off the waitlist on April 17, and I know a couple of other people were too.

Hey, did everybody who appealed their undergraduate admission decision hear back yet? My portal changed this morning and all it says is “your application is in review”

Does anyone know the cutoff date? My appeal is still in review.

is anyone’s appeal still under review?
