****Official 2013 Harvard Waitlist Thread****

I just called the admissions office and they said calls are going to start as of around now…

yeah, but harvard never published their stats on their WL. so their WL still could be larger than Princeton’s waitlist. anyway, good luck!

Ring ring

<it’s for=“” you…=“”></it’s>

^^^Wow, that’s cool that they told you. I wonder how many calls they will make, and until what time they’ll keep making calls.

ah jeez…this waiting for the phone call thing is horrible

no definite time frame at all for when your call (if you get one) will come

The phone rang.
It wasn’t them.
AHHHHH!

:( I’m guessing that they’ve probably stopped calling for today. Since the office closes at 5 ET, and it’s now 5:42 ET, then they’re probably done for the day, right?

I thought they started calling after 5pm, as in, after the committee finished deciding?

I second to what Placidia said.

^Maybe it is after 5pm eastern time, but even then, it’s 5:48 right now, how long does it take to make calls?

If it’s really Bigfoot making calls, as suggested on the other waitlist thread…then it would take a whole lot of grunting and roaring to get the point across.

I’m on the west coast, so im guessing no more calls for today & we await another day? ughhh i abhor the wait. I wish they would tell you early on if you were rejected that would be soo much better. bc now we are gonna have to wait until at least the end of may to find out we have been rejected.

^yeah, it’s pretty tough. i can’t really focus during school, because all i think about is harvard. plus i’m constantly anxious. this wait is probably bad for our health.

until tomorrow it is…

^ i agree, hopingforharvard!
Anyways, the wait goes on! Good luck to everyone!

Hey, can someone explain what admissions officers are doing during deliberations? What is the process like?

placidia, what’s the other waitlist thread? anything not already known here?

My guess is that only the really best applicants who would have been admitted if there wouldn’t have been any questionmarks regarding their applications. And with an update letter coupled with an additional recommendation that hole is filled up and the applicant is thus accepted. However, it seems as though these kinds of applicants are few. If we take the number we know of (2) from CC, which isn’t that much. Therefore, you’ve done the subtraction, the majority will be taken from the list in the upcoming days/weeks.

And since we are the majority, the process takes some time. I assume that decisions don’t have to be made at the end of every day. Decisions are maybe made in waves of 2 or 3 days, who knows. It could mean almost nobody got a call today and more will hear tomorrow or the day after that. The office would allegedly not call a single call till next week according to one poster here on CC.

However, it seems as though someone indeed got a phonecall according to nikki_10234’s post: “I just called the admissions office and they said calls are going to start as of around now…”

My speculation is that these applicants are among those who dazzled and just had to fill up a hole, such as OperaDad’s son whos recordings were submitted and thus he was accepted.

Lets keep our fingers crossed and see what happends! :)

The other waitlist thread is on the Harvard forum. Someone made a thread for people to post their names if/when they receive notice on their acceptance.

But since this thread is the “official” one (and especially because it’s the one with ALL THE ASTERISKS!) I think everyone should just post here. Besides, the person who started that thread is a known ■■■■■.

So, nothing new there. Other than the fact that the admissions committee includes Elvis and Bigfoot.

sigh another call-less day rolls by…

Let’s hope for the best, and for some good news tomorrow. :)
