No, just kidding. I’m completely fine with going to Duke, it’s an awesome college and one I’m falling more in love with everyday. Basketball, southern weather, world-renowned premed…

But there’s that overachieving Azn part of my brain that keeps saying “how awesome would it be if you got off that Harvard waitlist?” Threads like this don’t help, either. Now I have to tell myself to chillax whenever the phone rings in the afternoon–you’d think the end of school would be less stressful.

Good luck to everyone else. Let’s hope more miracles happen.

A story: After ap bio today I had a headache that continued for most of the day, so from 7-9 I took a nap–with a cell phone held within 2 feet of my head at medium volume.

I’ve got it bad. But I’m feeling fine now, and if they do call me to make an offer, after they have made the offer, I shall tell them how cruel they are for having a waitlist, in politically correct terms of course.

Goonight everyone, thanks for the comments and the feeling that im not the only one stressing and having anxiety attacks. i even picked up the phone or an 800 number bc i thought it could maybe be harvard. we all deserve greatness & it will come. YOU GUYS ARE ALL AWESOME!!

Hey guys, just joining this thread now. Glad to see I’m not the only one stressing out lol. Today at like 5:15 I got a call from an area code that I couldn’t recognize so my heart skipped a beat and I answered enthusiastically. Turns out it was just a local hospital soliciting blood. Let down.

then again, even all the calls might have already been made without our knowing; it’s only like 75 of us waitlistees here on CC, there can be a thousand more we don’t have a clue about, so the fact that nobody here got a call yesterday is actually not that indicative… which is sad :)

I think that no one from CC getting a call is actually pretty unlikely. Given that there are 75 waitlisters here, and we think that about 100 students will be taken off a waitlist that could number as much as 2000, the mean number of CC students accepted is 3.75 (75*(100/2000)). A binomial distribution indicates that with 75 independent waitlisters and a probability of getting of the waitlist that is approx .05, the probability that NO ONE from CC gets off is only 2.13%.

Although, it does seem possible that if they only let off a small number so far, maybe then no one from CC got a call. But, we shouldn’t be too worried.

someone on this thread said that they could call at the end of the day or during breaks in the deliberation. however, OperaDad received a call at 4.15 central time, which is 5.15 harvard time. so if the past is any indicator, it will most likely be after 5 ET.
