I believe in meetings they discuss region by region with the committee.

So calls could/probably are going to start in about one hour and 40 minutes??? Gosh this is rough.

If calls come today, yes.

oh do they only call after 5pm?

how about internationals? do they also call internationals or send emails?

I found out that Harvard is planning to mail the official letters on May 20th, with a response date of May 26th. The official letters will have the Financial Award information.

So, if you don’t hear by the 19th, the 2nd round of waitlist calls will probably not happen until after the 26th.

but would they call first, like this week, and then send the letters? or what?

I guess so. Or they will wait to do all the letters on the 20th.

But I think Harvard would prefer to let people know as quickly as possible.

@operadad. Now I’m all anxious again. That’s only next week! fingers still crossed. Anyone heard today?

I have heard that Harvard has multiple rounds of wait list calls, and OperaDad just confirmed that. However, I don’t understand why Harvard would have multiple rounds of wait list calls. Is the second round just there in case the some of the first round of wait list admits reject the offer? Or are there still some of the original wait list spots open after the first round?

I came home today from school and the first thing that I saw was a big white envelop in my mail box with my name on it. I got so excited but it turned out it was a letter from Swarthmore (the college that I am going to go to if Harvard doesn’t pull through). I was so disappointed. Oh Harvard how you tease me.
Has anyone heard back yet?

It’s 5:08 EST, which means the work day just ended for the admissions committee. If all goes as speculated, they should be calling people within the next half hour or so.

it’s been half an hour, anyone get a call?

nope… only another 20 minutes or so, and that’ll probably be it for today.

wow, 3 days with no calls so far… are they even calling people at all?

^i dunno. two cc-ers have received phone calls so far (on friday). since then, no one on this thread has gotten a call. if they haven’t started making calls i think that thats a better sign than if they have.

ive heard the phone ring twice in the past hour, and each time my heart has jumped only to be let down by the number on the caller id.

well, i guess we just have to wait for tomorrow. bummer. i really thought today someone would a call. 2:58 west coast time ughhh I still have a whole day to continue & i have work at 530.

I think regional admit officers are still sorting through ppl. regional adreps will then meet w/entire committee to make a decision.

I’m not expecting anything until after 13th

^i just wonder how people got calls last year around this time. doesn’t the adcom have to go through all of the applications? it seems like they would take about a week to go through all those apps.

and when it comes to someone who has already gotten the call, like the son of OperaDad, they might have needed a singer and just went through all the applicants who were singers to select the best one.

What do you guys think? could they make decisions so quickly? and don’t they have to go through each app?

With each passing minute, it grows more unlikely that they will call today. But once they start making calls–and if by some chance it is today–they do go quite late: as late as 7 or 8pm.
