****Official 2013 Harvard Waitlist Thread****

I wish I never knew CC existed…

But anyways, looking at last year’s thread, most people got calls on Friday. A very small number got calls before that. Once they did start though, they went as late as 9-10pm.

Good, good. Late, late. I have a topology final to study for, so that will keep me occupied.

i agree naveen. they were probably looking for someone with musical talent and looked for that. Just like they will be looking for people with different economic backgrounds & minorities. I also believe this week will consist of looking at the class they do have & seeing how they can fill in spots/gaps.

does anyone know if rejections are sent out during the same waves as acceptances off the waitlist or do they wait until july to let them know? and is it done in the same method (a call from the adcom)?

I don’t think they actually remove you from consideration or notify you about that until July 1 via letter. In case, at the last minute, they need someone like you, they don’t want to have told you no.

They don’t make calls to tell you that you’re no longer being considered

Also keep in mind that a lot of students who were initially offered admission waited until the very last second to send in their decisions (if at all.) Some regional reps were telling counselors at the end of April that they had yet to hear from a good chunk of students. To my knowledge they haven’t come out and confirmed how many waitlistees they will even be looking for in total, other than “at least 85 if not more”.

I’m not that surprised there haven’t been many calls yet to be honest. They seem to just be taking some time to get things sorted in my opinion.

LOL. I did not know one could actually study topology :D

My guess is, as I earlier said, the almost admits who lacked just some info, and empty space which was filled up through an additional rec or supplementary statement and thus reinforcing the applicant’s interest in Harvard led to those early waitlist admissions.

For the large pool it takes some days before the committee has come to some kind of conclusion of who to grab and who to leave hanging :(

And as someone earlier posted, the office would not make any more phonecalls untill the beginning of next week. However, this information is not super reliable and afterall we can only take each other by each other’s words…

Lets turn back to this topic tomorrow and see if anyone has gotten any calls :D

^let’s just hope that they need a little more time.

and reptil, that was me who said that they wouldn’t make calls this week. i called the office last friday, and the representative said that i shouldn’t expect a call through this week. i dunno if he was right, because someone else called in yesterday and they said that they were going to make calls “as of around now…” so once more we have conflicting reports sent by the office :(

Yes, and it’s not the only time I have gotten conflicting reports from colleges. It happends all the time, LOL.

Sometimes (conspiracy theory) the offices give faulty information to some in the admissions office just to see if information is leaked and thus determening who’s the rat :D

wow…that’s just freaky. as if the process weren’t nebulous and mysterious enough.

imagine if there were a conspiracy within the admissions office itself oO

Just to get our minds off of the topic of Harvard, where is everyone planning on going if Harvard does not pull through?

^northwestern, but not very excited about the prospect of going there right now.

cornell.

where are these calls? the suspense is killing me

I’ll be going to Pomona if I don’t get off.

I’ll be going to Penn if I don’t get in off the waitlist, and possibly even if I do.

i’ll be going to penn as well. i really wish harvard would give a set time when they will call. studying is becoming impossibleeee

Rice for me. I hope those calls come soon though. Exciting!

ring ring ring ring ring ring ring
