****Official 2013 Harvard Waitlist Thread****

Additional info: I heard they are calling a few people each day.

Assuming a wait list of 1,500 people, 150 called off the waitlist, and 75 people on CC on the waitlist, that means 10% of the the waitlist will be called eventually, and only 5% of the waitlist is on CC (or at least added their names to the list). 8 days of calling (business days between May 8 and May 19), implies about 19 decisions (calls) per day. With a little more than 1% of the waitlist called per day, it would not be surprising that days can pass without someone on CC being called. If CC is 5% of the waitlist, then CC could be 5% of the 150, or 7 people. 2 of the 7 are known, leaving 5 for the next 5 business days. Note: Not all 150 will be offered the first round, so the number of calls per day can be lower.

I think you are being too anal. You are taking this entire Harvard Admissions process like it is a matter of life and death. Yes, it is important, but not worth obsessing about.

In this instance, what difference would it make if it were my musings or reporting of what I have heard from a reliable source? What would you do differently? All I reported was when the official letters would be sent. You get in or you don’t. When you get the letter is when you get the letter, regardless of what I write. If you are going to obsess about anything, it should be about getting the phone call. Then you will know to expect the letter. Note: You can’t believe everything you find on the internet anyway.

I hope it is clear when I say what I am guessing, such as my estimate on the size of the waitlist. Or, when I thought people would start getting calls. When I report something, then it comes from a reliable source. In this instance, it came independently from the Financial Aid Office and the Admissons Officer. Is that good enough for you, or do you want their names and phone number?

OperaDad, I think such is unfortunately the fate of many here on CC: mix all the A types together and let them roast for a couple of days to get the just right amount of group polarization - and you shall get quite a neurotic cocktail. Eventually, it will hopefully pass…
Anyhow, I just wanted to say - we appreciate your help.

Hey operadad i want to thank you for your help. But please explain, whats the point in being sarcastic against me? Do i need their names and phones? I guess that you would not let me know them even if I was asking. So what’s your point? Or is it just you trying to be funny against an 18 year old kid? From your name, I infer that you are much more mature than me and i thought that perhaps you could understand me when i was asking for your source…Moreover, there have been many examples of ppl saying they had info from the Admissions Office, so just saying that your information was relieble would be enough. Or do you expect me to check your previous posts to infer if you are a ■■■■■ or nor?
All in all, thank you for your information and please understand that it is very hard for a kid to stay calm in a situation like this. At least, thats my pov.

Everyone calm down. Please.

Geraldo’s about to get hit in the face with a chair.

serendipity.

that report about regional decisions goes in line w/what I’ve heard from my regional adrep. She’s visiting my region…today! so I expect decisions for my area to be coming up soon after.

Just take a deep breath everyone. We’re all in the same situation…stressed by AP’s, waitlists, school, etc. No need to add to the stress.

Good luck everyone!

hey, it’s time to check you phone if it has a full power bar. Any time from now could be the moment …

^ I like your thinking. My phone is on the charger, and I am staying in this room.

“Waitlist for Godot”

ugh…somehow, that circuitous book had a theme…

hahahaha ahh. it’s on b’way now! i wanna see it.

Going with Operadad’s post, getting a CCer off the waitlist is as tough as getting a golden ticket to Willie Wonka’s chocolate factory.

Damn calm down. :(

I hope my region is up soon, the wait is killing me :D

although OperaDad figures that there are 1500 people on the waitlist. I thought that was how many people they offered it to, and only 2/3 accepted it.

Also, Stanford only took 85 people off, and I counted quite a few people on CC who got admitted.

is anyone else typing your name and access code into the admitted student’s page everyday to see if it works?

5 o’clock. :D

i dont think it matters if your admitted students access code thing works. Its just about the phone call. & I also believe that bc we are getting so many different stories from the admissions office that maybe its the office that is giving out different information. The facts though are that calls are being made already, & that it is a rolling process & can go into next week, next month, & next two months. Just keep your phone with you & hope that today is the day. good luck everyone  its 5 EST!!!

Damn music, work, etc my heart just raced when I saw your post. I don’t know for what reason, maybe because I came to the realization: “oh Harvard might call from now and onwards” :D

Does anyone know what’s the order of regions they look over?
Would they do internationals first?

i dont think they do internationals first. analyzing last thread internationals found out last. but dont quote me & i think it really has more to do with like rounding out the class. & their latino students are down 1% from last year so maybe if you’re from south american international they’ll call you. LOL jk. but im pretty sure its about filling gaps at this time.
