It doesn’t seem that farfetched that they would consider the international pool separately from the domestic one.

almost 5ET! keep your phone next to you!

The only thing more pathetic than you students waisting your lives stressing out on an anonymous forum is PARENTS of students talking on these forums. We don’t care about your ‘S’ or your ‘D’ - if you want your kids to grow up, stay out of their business, which includes their college applications - how do you expect your children to be independant if you pathetic parents are sitting reading and posting on forums to find out insignificant information about a waitlist, or to brag about your kids anonymously. OperaDad, this is to you too. Get a life.

^

umm…not that it’s any of my business, but that was kind of harsh. I think it’s rather sweet for parents to be concerned about their sons and daughters.

Plus, judging from the posts around here, some of the most helpful posts were posted by parents.

Everyone, take a deep breath…everything’s going to be fine…

There’s nothing wrong with being informed with what’s happening to one’s children. Only a narrowminded person like you would claim that such a person lacks life or is pathetic. I will tell you as Robin Williams said in Dead Poets’ Society: I pity the fool. And you’re the fool.

Moreover, on topic: I think internationals are divided into separate groups, since 5 have already been taken off the list from England, maybe they start with English speaking countries and then continue with Asia, Europe, Africa etc.

How these divisions are made, I don’t know. But lets think that some regional rep has 3 states, another one has 5 etc. Some has 10 countries, with similar educational systems. Maybe China, Korea, Japan and the Fillipines have similar educational systems then it would be intelligent to assume that one representative stands and advocates for all applicants from those countries.

I called the admissions office an hour or so ago and was told that the there are going to be 3-4 rounds of wait list admissions.

The first round of rejections/acceptances will be sent out thursday or friday this week and calls will go on till then (wed/thurs). Also, he said that they were discussing regions in the same order as they had discussed them for admissions.

actually, iamtheman you are the most pathetic person on college confidential. Why are you wasting your time telling us what to do, if your life is so grand then go live it. If we enjoy this thread then its none of your business what we do. You have no idea who we are & yet you think it’s okay to come on here & judge us. I do pity you, for being arrogant enough to believe that.

nikki, he did not say how many are waitlisted in Canada - it seems like no one is privy to that type of information.

Now, what you just asked admissions about contradicts what OperaDad, etc. have told us about the May19th deadline. I’m just so confused haha.

May I also point out – “iamtheman” – yes, well it certainly appears that you think you are! lol

haha serendipity! join the club…im as confused as u are…it seems like harvard has a ploy to confuse us all with contradicting info… lol -_-

i guess the consensus is that at the end of this week, round one will be over lol
and all we can really do is wait…wait…and more wait…and then wait some more :P

anyone get calls today? how late do they keep calling anyways?

Guys, don’t feed ■■■■■■. They are obese enough already harhar. ;)

Calls have been known to come in at pretty random times, which makes the waiting even more anxiety-inducing.

While I do think that imtheman was a little bit harsh in his criticism of parents posting on these forums, I do have to ask Operadad why he continues to play such an active role on this thread. Your son got in, for which I offer my most sincere congratulations, so I don’t quite understand why you keep posting. Especially because I doubt most of the information you have been giving is from the admissions office: it seems to me like you are just guessing about a lot of things. I sincerely doubt that they would tell you all of their secrets just because you are the parent of an accepted student. I just think that you should think twice before continuing to post this type of thing, and enjoy your son’s acceptance somewhere else.

By the way, I am one of the lurkers who has been following this thread for a couple of weeks. I am one of two waitlisted students from my school, a small public high school in a wealthy Maine town. This is the first time in over ten years that a student from my school has not been accepted to Harvard, although the girl from last year was one of the 200 accepted from the wait list. I have sent in an additional letter of recommendation, a letter expressing my interest, and spoken to my alumni interviewer (who is going to contact my regional admissions officer on my behalf). If I don’t get in to Harvard, I will be attending Johns Hopkins.

Sorry for all of that info. I just wanted to put it all out there.

Nikki, there’s a first round of rejections as well?

Ya…he said that along with the first round of acceptances, they would reject some people from the waitlist by sending out letters at the end of the week. I guess they are trying to filter people out for each round because otherwise it would be difficult to go through everyone over and over again. Plus, I guess its helpful for us to know where we stand.

Here’s hoping we don’t end up in the first group of rejections : )

Guys, this is just a message board. Take the information that is posted, make your judgements, and move on. I think some are being too critical / emotional. I found Operadad’s posts informative, so why question the motive…whatever it is. At some point, we will all move on, but let’s get all the information we can get, posted here. Timing is everything.

OperaDad, keep posting. Your posts are very helpful, and I think it’s nice of you to continue helping us with info even though your son/daughter has already been accepted.

As for me, I’m a lurker parent following this board. My D is also on the waitlist, and we’re from California.

can anyone else confirm that H will send out rejection waitlists as they go?

FYI: I’m fascinated by the admissions process. I have another kid who will be going through it in a few years.

thanks operadad

Eh, I wonder what criteria is used for early rejections… Anyways, still hoping for “early” acceptance…
