I meant American citizens who are studying in (an accredited) high school outside of the states. Such as an international school.

The competition doesn’t specify you be a permanent resident of the States. Only says you have to be a US citizen or green card holder.

Of course, the amount of submissions from abroad would probably be minimal in the first place, but I’m sure there has been and will continue to be winners from expats.

I think Siemens has you select a team leader. I’m not entirely sure, but I think they go by the region your “team leader”, usually the first person you put on the form, lives in.

ahhh I’m free after 1:30 on Friday so I’m going to be sitting at a computer refreshing the page until the results come out SO NERVOUS AND EXCITED!!

For the sake of keeping this thread alive, what did you all do your project on?

I did my project essentially on inhibiting vitellogenesis in mosquitos as a means of controlling mosquito population and thus, controlling mosquito-borne diseases such as Dengue Fever.

Can someone clarify when exactly the results are going to be released? Also, are the semifinalist and finalist lists going to be released at the same time? I’ve heard around CC that they are usually released at 2 PM ET on Friday, but does anyone have an official source?

and haha to keep this thread alive and prevent it from turning into a countdown: what field of science do y’all enjoy the most? for me it would have to be bio but I also love chem :D

For research, I find a ton of fields interesting, even if I don’t understand some of it. I love to read about stuff from optics to neuroscience to Antarctica, but my major research interests I’ve actually done projects in are in computational neuroscience and bioinformatics.

For classes, my favorite is chemistry. Chemistry has some math involved, but not a huge amount. It has some memorization, but not much. Basically to me, it feels like an in between of Bio and Physics. I find just bio or just physics to be too intense for me

Wow, I agree completely with quidditchchat. Biology is too much raw memorization, and physics is too intense for me. I like the in-betweeness of chemistry. Although I love math and am pretty good at it, I suck at physics so badly. It’s kind of weird, honestly.

As for research, I think biology is pretty intense. It’s kind of fascinating all of these things happen in our body. Crazy to think about
