***Official 2013 Siemens Competition Thread***

And sorry, but I can’t help it. 50 hours!!

omg, guys
“Follow the Siemens Foundation on Twitter (@sfoundation) and “like” us on Facebook, Redirecting..., to see who the 2013 Finalists are at 12pm noon on Friday, October 18th, two hours EARLY!”

^ literally had a heart attack when I got that email

AHHHHHHHH

and anyone else doing science bowl on here? my school does a regional science bowl but even if we win we never go to the finals because they conflict with our schedule :/

I mean you dont have to follow them to see their tweets… so technically wouldnt you be able to view results early without following them? I did anyway… but I’m a bit confused.

Yeah, technically you can. I guess it’s just easier to know when exactly it’s posted?

literally becoming their #1 follower in 2 days

Yeah, I do science bowl too. We’re okay, but it’s really fun. We never make nationals or anything like that. I want to know if there are any invitationals that I could get our team involved in, I feel like that would give us the cutting edge at the competition, but I haven’t been able to find any. I got that email, and liked the page, but I don’t really get how it gives you early access if it’s a public page, do you think it just sends you a Facebook message or something? I’m not expecting SF, but it would be really awesome to get it, because it will probably make/break my HYPMit apps.

My school doesn’t do Science Bowl, but we do Science Olympiad.

We do science bowl (yay, captain! :smiley: ). My team made nationals 2 years ago (it was pretty fun), but sadly we finished 2nd last year after winning the winner’s bracket and losing twice in a row to the winner of the loser’s bracket. Anyway, I’m hoping to make nationals again this year. It would be pretty cool.

@Neutrality
What state are you from? Walton High School hosts an invitational tournament, although it’s probably too late to register now, seeing as the tournament is this Saturday (kinda excited, not gonna lie).

@quidditchcat
We do science Olympiad also! But we never do well enough at states to make it to nationals…darn those magnet schools.

As for the social media thing, I had a heart attack when I got that email. I was expecting it to be like a day earlier, which would’ve been amazing. Oh well, 2 hours is 2 hours! Looks like I’m going to be failing a couple of tests Friday…Good luck to all of you! Crossing my fingers for semifinalist (finalist would be amazing as well). 38 hours…

Good Luck Everyone :). Good thing I’m test free on Friday. This waitingggg is killing meee.

Haha, my school made nationals a few years ago, during my freshman year. Unfortunately, during freshman year, I was apparently too late to sign up, so I couldn’t participate even in regionals. :confused:

But then again we’re not a magnet school, so maybe we shouldn’t feel so bad. We don’t even study… lol

Yeah, good luck! I’m not sure what I’m expecting.

never sent in my paper (◕︵◕) /sadness/

but i’m probably gonna do sts. are you all doing intel sts?

Haha I am. And why not? Run out of time?

12 eastern time in assuming?

i didn’t really feel like it LOL

and cool! hopefully i’ll finish everything by the november deadline

@Babolat Probably.

And so the countdown begins. (Not that I wasn’t counting down before) Under 16 hours to go!

Can’t wait!

Ahhhh, 3 hours!

From what I read on the Twitter account, they just said they would give their followers early access, but they didn’t say what time. How do you guys know it’s gonna be 12 ET?

In the email they sent, it said 12.
