"Official" 2014 USABO thread

Is selection for finalist only based on semifinal score?

yes

Yes

:D first year and got a 37.75! but congrats to everyone who made the cutoff!

gangsta you a soph?

Yes

37.25, one night cram sesh hahaha

33.75 :P

33.25. So happy, but now I only have ~2 weeks to study for semis, on top of AIME II…

ugh. count yourself lucky. I have to take it next friday since I’m gonna be out of town during the last week of march

That’s rough….

My research/AMC/AIME mentor pretty much expects me to make USAMO (which probably isn’t gonna happen), and now I’ll be expected to make USABO as well……

not that I’m complaining, but thinking about it makes me really stressed out lol

wow you have a single mentor for all of those subejcts?

Yeah, it started out last year as AMC stuff, and now he’s leading the microbiology research team at my school. He made AIME twice, and his brother got to USAMO. (Edit: he didn’t train me for USABO open - I self-studied. Sorry if that was unclear.)

Ugh, well AIME I was bad lol. gl with II

Thanks  But I heard the II is supposed to be harder…?

no, i bet AIME II will be easier this year

Hope so…

Anyway, getting back on topic, congrats to everyone who qualified for USABO semis, and good luck studying! (unless, of course you don’t need to study because you already know everything, which many people on this thread seem to haha)

Wait I got a 29 and the status says i’m a semifinalist. What is the cutoff score? Because there was a problem last year where everybody got the status as a semifinalist.

and also, how the f do you get 37.5 as a sophomore? that’s crazy insane. You must be a cyborg or something.

Us sophomores are going to take over the world
Also, someone mentioned earlier that the cutoff was 28.5,
