@chessplayer101 To my knowledge, the admissions office is not open on the weekends so they should not be calling people until monday at the earliest. If @Hizeus is correct, we should wait until wednesday before expecting anything.
Ugh. This year is radically different from previous years, so who knows what’ll happen.
The fact that there was EA/ED1/ED2 so the yield is probably wacky. I didn’t expect them to take people off the waitlist at all, let alone before May 1st. @Sonamkachee
I am also waitlisted and sent my LOCI on Friday but I am an international student with a clearly stated financial need hence not sure what my chances for getting off waitlisted would be, Wondering if @HorsesPwn42 had stated any financial need?
@twiga Although domestic students are need blind (meaning that admissions don’t consider FA), I think all students, domestic and international, in the waitlist becomes need aware (thats what my councler said). It really depends on how much money they have left from their pool of money set aside for FA. I applied for FA, but don’t know if I got any.
Should we just assume that we aren’t getting off of the waitlist since we have confirmation from someone that they have already been taken off, which could mean a lot more have been removed too
I emailed my admissions officer and he emailed back with something along the lines of “the spots from the waitlist have not been filled,” meaning that UChicago does have spots for students off of the waitlist and he also mentioned that it will be going up until mid May.
Thanks @HorsesPwn42! so it seems my chances are really slim considering that I am not only an international student but also asking for FA. At the moment just waiting for an acknowledgement for my LOCI. Anybody else got an acknowledgement today?
It sure seemed ‘copied and pasted’ @Cobra7
He just said that he had added my note to my application for consideration, and thanked me for my continued interest…
"Thank you for reaching out to articulate your continued interest! I have added this email to your application file so that we can be sure to keep it in mind. To learn more about the waitlist, and what we recommend in the coming weeks, please visit our Uncommon Blog.
If there’s anything else I can do to help, please don’t hesitate to let me know!"
I wish that it was a little less copy and paste, but I understand they are too busy to respond individually to each email.
Guys don’t think too much about their reply messages, they are probably flooded with them. Mine was:
“Thank you so much for your email and continued interest in the University of Chicago! I have added your note to your application file for the admissions committee to review.”
I am freaking out a bit as I sent my LOCI on Friday and I still haven’t received an acknowledgement! It could be due to the Easter break or the counsellor for my region,If I don’t receive it by tomorrow morning, I will surely send another email to my regional counsellor.
