Official 2021 UChicago Waitlist Discussion

@joshmoe Did you mention what you plan to do during your gap year in your LOCI?

Yes and i feel like that helped out a lot. I also stated how what im doing in my gap year and how it will benefit me at uchicago when i attend.

@joshmoe Can you reveal your stats? If you go to a prep school? major awards? M/F? URM? Intended major? Applied for financial aid? Area of the US?

@Meganerd2012, good luck where you end up! :slight_smile:

@Sam-I-Am
Thanks! Good luck to you as well! :slight_smile:

Oh man. I TWICE sent my regional counselor my LOCI, but have not got any response at all. Should I just move on?

Also, I did NOT include a gap year plan in my LOCI… :frowning:

@MySweetestFoe

Call them and make sure they got it.

Anybody update for anyone this week?

@Meganerd2012 out of curiosity, did you hear back from Nondorf after you sent him that letter?

Nope. I sent a copy to my admission counselor, and he responded but not Nondorf. I wasn’t really expecting Nondorf to respond, but it would have been really great if he did.

I think they’ll reject us all. Lol

@Bluejay21 LOL. But, I hope not!

Why do they waitlist so many if they do not have room and acceptances from waitlists never go beyond 100-200 (max). The job could be done with having around 250-300. Having a complete class (close to 3000) waitlisted is very wrong and meaningless. I hope they do not waitlist around 3000 considering hypothetical 0% yield in mind. God bless the Admissions Office.

My best friend got off the waitlist two weeks ago, so there is hope! She emailed her admissions officer and w/in a week, he called her back and offered her a spot in the Class of 2021.

My theory is that by waitlisting a lot of people across the nation, more kids who will be applying to college feel like they have a chance which means more kids will apply in the future. I think the waitlist allows colleges to attract interest from kids like me who would have otherwise not applied due to the high selectivity.

@Snowfire88 wow that’s amazing! Do you know what major she applied for? And is she American?

@pmkkjh Yeah! She was really surprised. She is American and I believe she applied for political science

@Snowfire88 ngl I’m getting really nervous! I haven’t heard of any international students getting off the waitlist ;(

ahh I got an email from my regional counselor asking if she could call me sometime today or tomorrow
