Official Accepted or Rejected Thread (Class of 2014)

Hey guys! Now that acceptance (or rejection) letters are starting to come out, some of us who haven't gotten our letters are anxious to find out what some of the other students got throughout their 4 years. Dont be AFRAID to post your stats if you were rejected because it'll be a BIG help to others! So here's a short questionnaire:

Accepted or Rejected?

GPA: ___ uw ____ w

SAT total:

Major:

School Applied to (CAS, Stern, etc):

LSPed or accepted to school of your choice:

When did you send in your application?

When did you receive your letter?

When was it postmarked for?

First gen? Ethnicity?

What do you think played a crucial role in your acceptance or rejection?

If you got in, congratulations! And if you didn't, hopefully you'll find a school that works for you! : ]

girl, just chill out. you’ll find out if you’re in or not within 7 days. speculating won’t help, and if anything it will only disappoint you. find your inner peace and accept that what happens is happening for a reason. there are no coincidences, so just sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride. being stressed is not fun. chillll

…OR we can keep obsessing because it appeases my nervousness to see stuff like this. so I vote we do this. I haven’t heard yet for the record, I think if the LSPs have passed that I’m more likely getting into CAS than rejected.

I second that, I would enjoy doing this. Obviously I know that obsessing wont change any decisions, but I love NYU and this helps me deal with my anxiety for the time being ;)

yess go on. ignore the 2nd post. lol it may be true but we would like to know stats!

haha then to appease you three i shall contribute, although this applies to LSP

Accepted to LSP

GPA: my high school does not calculate it, approx 3.0 - 3.25 thoguh
3a. SAT total: 1940
3b. ACT total: 31

Major: (@Gallatin) Anthropology/Sociology, Journalism, Photography, Int’l Relations

School Applied to (CAS, Stern, etc): Gallatin

LSPed or accepted to school of your choice: LSPd

When did you receive your letter? December 8

When was it postmarked for?

First gen? Ethnicity? White, from NH (absolutely no diversity)

What do you think played a crucial role in your acceptance or rejection? I think the recommendation from my english teacher played a role in my getting LSPd. I think with NYU’s huge focus on writing skills, I should have asked my english teacher from this year (the teacher i asked was very biased in her thinking, thought little of ideas/beliefs she did not hold, my teacher during my junior year–first year at a new school)
in terms of my acceptance, my school is one of the… i guess… elite boarding schools in new england. although my academics have never been spectacular, i have participated in various (and many) extracurriculars. i think my extensive travel experience also played a part.

:) I live on the complete opposite side of the coast so I’m sure that you have been accepted  (that is, if I live in Washington and got the LSP letter today, no matter where you live you wont get an lsp letter cause they have been sent out already!! :))

@coolij ejoocation
(90 - 100 = A range; 80 - 89 = b range… etc)
about an 87 overall for high school

ugh. im SO nervous ahhh. sorry if im going crazy about this, but im trying to analyze and compare myself with stats of ppl who were LSP’d because I would’ve liked to be LSP’d… hopefully i’ll find out this week and end my nightmares and dreams (actually had a dream I was accepted, woke up from it, then got depressed that it was just a dream)
but if i do get rejected, I’ll definitely let u guys know and post it on this thread

anyone overseas hear back yet?

Nope. Some internationals that I know got LSP’ed however.

might I presume that it’s easier to get into Gallatin LSP than CAS LSP?

because i have much better test scores than mmarsh and a GPA of about 3.2 overall (though it’s closer to 3.4-3.5 without freshman year i believe). Don’t want to let the fact that he/she got in play down my nervousness, especially if Gallatin LSP is easier to get into

hey everyone! does nyu send out decisions via email or snail mail, or both?

Depends on if you’re international or not. Int’l = email/both. Domestic…not sure. Snail mail from what NYU is saying.

@woosah

no, it isn’t easier to get into Gallatin. they’re kind of like oranges and bananas. Gallatin ad coms are looking for very specific qualities in their applicants, while CAS is mostly a numbers game.

Numbers game? In what way? Could you please elaborate?
