I know that it is a bit early for this but I've started prepping for the ACT. I'm sitting for the test in December.
I've gone through the official ACT guide. Reading, Writing (I'm also taking the writing test), Science, English is very easy. i got about 3 questions wrong overall in the example questions in the book. But I was having difficulties in Math. In functions specifically. So, about 5 questions wrong there. And my timing sucks bad. I started the Barron's ACT prep book and solved the diagnostic test. It is markedly harder the one in the official ACT guide.
But the Barron's book is very detailed and has a LOT of practice exercises. I did REALLY bad on the diagnostic on the Barron's (I got a 28. it was hard!).
But I'm going to solve a test on the official as a diagnostic to check where I am. After that, I plan to complete the Barron's book followed by the Math and English/Reading workbook from Barrons then I'm going to go for the Barron's ACT 36 and 50 Math tips for the ACT finally, I'm going to solve pr tests in all the books.
I'm also sitting for SAT II Math Bio, Chem, Physics in October and Lit, Math 1 and Math 2 in November.
That's the plan I guess.

So…nobody else plans to sit for it yet?

I’m taking it in December! I took it in June and got a 33, so I won’t have to do a lot of studying this time around.
But before I stress out about the ACT, I need to get past the PSAT in October…
And the SAT II tests I’m planning to take are Math 2, Chem, Bio, and US History. I’m taking all the tests (with the exception of Math 2) in May.

I will be taking it for the first time in December. I bought flashcards and a book of practice tests, I’ve been working with the flash cards and plan to start taking practice tests in September (I am currently without a graphing calculator since I borrow one from my school and found that I was not doing the math fast enough without it). I am aiming for a 30 by the time I am done, so I would be fairly happy with a 28/29 for this round. My only issue is I am self-taught for geometry, so we will see how that goes…

I will probably take a few subject tests, not sure but probably some science test, math II and/or US history.

The problem i’m currently having is that there’s too little time for both the math and reading section. In practice tests, i’m missing 20-23 questions from each question because of timing issues. Im sure with practice, that’ll be fine because I am just about to start the Barron’s ACT which will be followed by workbooks for reading, english and math and ACT 36.

Anybody got the test and the answers

I am joking; that would simplify study cause you cannot cheat, but you can be prepared by studying test material.

I’m taking it in December! I’ve been studying the past two weeks and I hope I get above a 25! I got a 21 the last time, but that was without studying so I guess that’s pretty good…
English is an easy 36 and Reading is in the 30s, but the Math and Science are going to kill me… :/

Is it true that the December test is easier than the rest? That is what I have heard.

But anyways, Im taking it too for the 5th time. I have been really sick the past times and have only managed to get like 4 hours of sleep the night before and then couldnt focus at all. I got a 29 last time and my goal is a 32+ but Ill be satisfied with a 30+

Math and english are easy for me but the highest I have gotten in science on my practice test is a 31 and for reading is a 32 while english and math are almost always 33+

There is no correlation between test dates and difficultly. I don’t know who keeps spreading these rumors.

I plan on taking the test on Saturday, and I was planning on having a webinar to review/dissect/discuss the test with other students who took the test, but I wasn’t sure if there was any interest. Thoughts?

yeah im really scared. My parents wasnt me to get a 35 or 36 and Ive been studying really hard for the past month but i havent been seeing the results. it alwasy the science and reading sections that kill me. Does anyone have any tips? And how exactly does a curve work on the ACT? Im trying to figure out if I just got lucky the first time I took it or if there was a significant curve? also is the June ACT typically harder than the ones during the shcool year? or is there no trend at all really?

sorry for any typos

The tests from my understanding are never easier or harder, just sometimes the curve produces a better score. My issues are math and English, I keep running out of time on math and I am just bad at grammar. Science and reading are easy for me though… Has anybody here taken the ACT with writing before/any advice for somebody who is taking it for the first time (specifically regarding the essay)?

Does anybody having advice on timing and on the humanities section on the Reading Comp? Also is there anybody who has taken the act in both october and septemeber who noticed a trend in which the way testmakers are making the act? Because to my understanding it seems like the math and science sections are getting harder

science and math are the hardest for me. i keep running out of time for both. i took it in september and got a 30 when i was expecting like a 32 so that was a real let down. does anyone have any tips for science and math and just how to improve my over-all score?

I really need to break into 30. So nervous.

Im not to nervous for this test because I know that the ACT doesnt really matter too much. Im not stressing to get a 32+ anymore. Its just kinda like whatever happens happens cuz I know I will get above a 29 which is my highest right now

I know this is off topic but are you allowed to use a led pencil on the test? I thought you were, but I think in the red book it says you cannot.

Anything above 29+ works for me I hope we all do it well

I must get a 34+, my pride depends on it. Hehe too many ******s in my class have 32-33s and won’t stop rubbing it in…

I scored a 33 on a practice test. I need a 34+ and the only thing bringing me down is math.
-___- I just need to review some formulas and brush up on some plane geometry.
I’m taking the test Sunday. Good luck everyone!
