Official: AP Biology 2011 Post-Test Discussion

it varies from year to year, there really is no way of knowing.
[AP Pass - AP Biology Calculator](AP Biology Test Score Calculator - AP Pass)
this is probably inaccurate, considering the curve will be much less lenient this year judging by how easy most people thought this was

we can’t talk about MCQ right

weren’t you listening to your proctor haha? NEVEREVEREVERNEVEREVERNEVERNEVEREVERRRR talk about the mc.

I’m actually pretty ****ed that the MC was so easy, I spent hours going over hormones and the immune system just to get a bunch of ecology crap. The portions with the labs were 100% common sense no real knowledge needed. As far as the frqs, I probably squeezed 5-7 points out of the first three, 4c IMO was unfairly obscure. I’m just afraid we’re going to get raped by a hard curving.

Do you think this year’s curve would be very high compared to all the other years because this is the first year that points aren’t deducted and the test seem relatively easy?

yes^. its going to be much more difficult to get a 5. it thought i definitely had one until i realized that everybody did…

Am I the only fool here who strongly believed that Plant & Immune System portions will be big on the test? I stuided so hard on Plant and Immunology sections becuase past AP Bio students said that plant portion is increasing throughout every year. Oh! If I just study Reproductive System more carefully…Uwa!~

I guess CollegeBoard was just ■■■■■■■■ us by making us think there was going to be a huge chunk of Plant section, thereby making us waste our time studying it.

Well i study photosynthesis and it really help me on part b of FRQ 4

i was really lucky, for some reason i stumbled across that second equation last night while reviewing labs… i knew exactly what was going on for that question

Okay for the free response on the digestive system with the structure and function relationship with of the stomach and small intestine does talking about the gastric juices would that give me points.?

Sent from my HTC Aria using CC App

first of all, you shouldnt be talking about the questions.
and i would think you would be lucky to get a point on that part

Okay the essays we can talk about its just the multiple choice we can’t And wait so I wouldn’t get a point

Sent from my HTC Aria using CC App

well we’re not supposed to talk about the essays until 48 hours after lol but it was something along the lines of structural. gastric juice is not a structure

The Ap test does not grade on a curve. The cutoff is already set. Ap bio is about 95. That’s why there’s like 40% people who get fives on Ap calc bc test. [AP Exam Scores](http://professionals.collegeboard.com/higher-ed/placement/ap/exam/grades)

wait i don’t get it lol

It simply means that if a majority of the tested students receive over 90% of the MC then a 100% correct will be a 5 and 90 a 4 etc. Simply put if most students score high the scale will get harder that is on a curved. The AP exam is preset so the results won’t change the scale at all. If 85 out of 150 raw is a 5 it will stay that way throughout.

and that’s worse for us… right?

Actually, it’s no different than taking a test at school only your odds of scoring high are very good. Approximately 20% that take AP Bio score a 5 and 15% score a 1. (6 Barrons)

does one of the frq wont count agaisnt us because its experimental? thats what my teacher said i jus wanted to make sure
