*** Official AP Biology Thread 2012-2013 ***

@MedicalBoy: I use Barrons’ new one. From what I hear, it’s not perfect - it includes some extra material - but it’s the best one out so far. I like it fine, although some info (like epigenetics) is in the book that won’t be on the exam.

@swim- we’re testing on chapters 14-17 next class, so we’ll be into 18 by next week. i’m pretty much screwed for the exam because my teacher doesn’t see that we need to stop taking tests that i’m just going to fail anyway and start going through more material

Anyone on Chapters 20 and 21 yet? I need a study buddy :(

If I got a 740 on the Bio-M subject test without taking the class and studying for about a week, is it possible for me to get a 5 on this test studying for a month?

^^ Same case here. But I’ve been studying since the beginning of March. Still, If you know the concepts and don’t need to learn EVERYTHING, then you’ll be fine.
Hope this helps.
The best way would be to get a hold of a practice test or pr book to take a look at the content.

^^Adding to the above post…
You need to know that SAT II Bio M is a piece of cake as compared to AP Bio. The best way is to simply take a look at the content somehow. (Library, perhaps?)

100 in AP bio, but I don’t understand a single thing that my teacher says. I just get home and watch Bozeman biology & follow along with my AP biology Barrons book. My teacher has no clue on whats on the new exam and frankly, I gave up on this class a while back haha.

I heard that last year’s Cliff Notes are literally useless for the new test. I recommend you guys purchase the brand new Barron’s and the REA crash course.

Has anyone else used the new Pearson AP Test Prep book? It works along with Campbell texbook and my teacher recommended it to us, although I just heard recently that it’s now useless since the exam changed again?

Does anyone of you know how detailed we have to know for human body/plant structure for this upcoming AP exam?

When scouring through the new course syllabus and 40 practice questions, I found none pertaining to human anatomy or plant structure.

What has me worried are all the graphs I encountered on the syllabus. Our teacher maybe puts 1-2 questions asking us to analyze graphs on his tests.

Also, WHY IS EVERYONE THROWING OUT THE CLIFFS? I thought they were not to be released until April 16th? I went ahead and pre-ordered my set a week ago on amazon. Should everyone make an investment to purchasing Barron’s???

I pre ordered the Cliffs one, too! I hope a month is enough to study for the exam. Right now I have the 3rd edition of Cliffs

I feel like old cliff notes can be helpful if you do not understand what you learn in classroom. You don’t have to know every details out of that book but it definitely helps you to understand general stuff.

I feel like we are behind. We have done Chapters 3-20, 27, 43-45, and 51-55. We have done nothing concerning evolution, plants, or organisms … and we only have about a month before our test!

Rob1995, we’re really behind here too! We’ve only just completed Chapters 1-23 and over the summer, 50-55. We’re so screwed since I heard much of the material deals with evolution and organism life. Damn and my teacher just announced no more testing and only powerpoint lectures which he sucks at.

Is there a Barron’s 2013 AP Bio?

Yes, I do not respect Barron’s for Biology. No one has access to the new Cliffs Bio so I will continue with my order.

We are finished with everything except Anatomy.

Anyone know how much extra information there is on the SAT Bio Subject Test compared to the new AP test?

I noticed that this was posted on the first page of the forum:
http://media.collegeboard.com/digitalServices/pdf/ap/1_Curriculum_Framework_for_Pearson_Campbell_Bio7e_1.14.11.pdf

Does this guide adhere to the 2013 curriculum? (what was claimed by whoever posted this) Because the footnote says 2011 CollegeBoard. Just wondering!
